I for one will be using:
A = Jump
B = Attack
X/Y = Special
L = Guard
R/Z = Grab
This is not only because it feels comfortable on a Gamecube Controller, but it will also be good for the 3DS Version.

I have different control setups for different iterations of smash depending on ATs. It's mostly default, but it's usually Y, Z, and R that I interchange. Tap jump also depends on the game. I really can't know how I'll set up my controls until people start figuring out what kinds of ATs are possible, which characters I'll use, and pretty much just get a feel for the game

Will probably go with:

Classic controller
Jump - A/Y
Attack - B
Special - X
Grab - R/Z
Shield - L

And I'll probably buy one of those GC adapter things.

Gamepad
A - Standard
B - Special
Y - Jump

Grab - ZR/ZL
Shield - L

I'll probably give the GCN adapter a try if I can find cheap GCN controllers, although the one with the Smash decal looks awesome. Even though I would've liked them to ditch the weird color scheme and make a sleek black-silver design and a white-blue one.

Use GCN controller, default controls with tap jump off. Same as Brawl, really. Pro Controller's layout is awful to me.

On a GC controller
Tap jump: Off
L=Shield
R=Throw
A=Attack
B=Special
X+Y=Jump

Because I'm a classic smasher at heart, and the x/y buttons for jumping closely resemble the n64 c buttons for jumping, and as a Yoshi main, I ant the best jump accuracy.

Wii U: Gamecube controller standard now, Gamecube controller standard forever.
3DS: The closest approximation of a Gamecube controller. A to jump, B for normal attacks, Y for specials.

Probably default pro controller. I used it at smash fest and it was pretty good.

I'm just going default honestly, the only thing I need is to have Tap Jump turned off.

Default gamecube control scheme unless they confirm Dacus to come back.

If it comes back, L set to attack.

Default GCC except with tap jump off. Can't do u-tilts with tap jump on, my thumb is too clumsy and I end up jumping and doing an u-air instead.
For 3DS, however I plan to use:
Y: Specials
B: Attack
A+X: Jump
D-pad: Smash attacks if not Circle Pad Pro compatible, otherwise for taunts
Circle Pad Pro: Smash attacks.
I also might swap the R and L buttons if I'm more comfortable shielding with one button over the other.

Wii U Pro Controller
A: Jump
B: Attack
Y: Special
X: Shield
L: Shield
R: Grab
ZL: Shield
ZR: Grab

This would basically be the exact same button format that I used with the Wii Classic Controller for Brawl.

Mine will be character specific, but I'll probably go with a tilt-stick setup and tap jump off.

Not entirely sure what I'll do if there isn't a wired Pro option, It there is, here's what I'll do for both.

B=jump
Y=special
A=attack
X=grab
(back)R=shield
(front)L=jump

Not sure about the rest. I'll probably move more attacks to the shoulder buttons if there aren't any techs that rely on fast imputs.

I used wii remote + nunchuk for most of Brawl, but I've been finding the gamecube controller comfortable as well. I think I'll continue to use both so that me and my friends don't have to switch around controllers as much when we play.

Nunchuk
  • A - Attack
  • B - Special
  • Control pad
    • Up - Usmash
    • Side - Grab
    • Down - Dsmash
  • C - Jump
  • Z - Shield
And then my oddly configured gamecube controller based off of wiimote controls:

  • A - Attack
  • B - Jump
  • X - Jump
  • Y - Grab
  • Z - Grab
  • R - Special
  • L - Shield
