The Evolution Championship Series, better known as EVO, returns to Las Vegas this weekend!
Starting on Friday, July 14, this well-established fighting game tournament takes place across three days of excitement. Nearly 7,000 players will be in attendance this year, each hoping to claim the #1 title in their respective games. Boasting nine official tournaments, with games such as Super Smash Bros Melee & Wii U, Street Fighter V, and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, 2017’s EVO is once again shaping up to be the premiere event for the FGC.
EVO 2017 will be held exclusively at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino. However, the first two days’ matches will occur in the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, whereas the final day will be hosted in the 12,000 seat Mandalay Bay Event Center arena. Attendees and online viewers of EVO 2016 will be familiar with this massive arena.
Saturday will see the finals for four games:
- Super Smash Bros. Melee
- Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2
- Injustice 2
- The King of Fighters XIV
- Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
- Blazblue: Central Fiction
- Tekken 7
- Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3

Along with the nine competitions, the first two days will offer a handful of panels, unofficial side tournaments, and vendors.
