Im kind of new to using falcon but i have been watching a lot of videos of him lately and sometimes i see players are able to stop the rapid punch almost instantly. i have tried this and all i can think of is holding sheild and even this seems to take a second or so. Does anyone know how.

personally I use A + A + AZ , so jab , jab, and on the third jab also hit Z near simultaneously. The third jab will finish without continuing into the multi hit.

"gentleman" if you've heard the term thrown out in smash vids. I know there are more ways to do it but i'm not a falcon main so i'm not 100% sure.

I was bored and fiddled with this in debug mode. There might be another way to getting this to work, but there was only one way I could duplicate into getting gents everything single time.

You just simply have to delay all of your A presses.

1) You want to press A after the entire animation of Jab1 is finished (NOT during the IASA period).
2) You want to press A after the entire animation of Jab2 is finished (NOT during the IASA period).

You have to do these two things to get Jab3 without going into the Jab100 (rapid jab) animation. If you press A before jab1 is overwith, but still wait until jab2 is over with before pressing A, you will still get the rapid jab animation. And vice versa.

This is magus's post on the gentleman, it explains how to do this pretty well
"f you don't hit anything you should also do the hold A method, but you do need to slow down the timing a bit to make up for not having the added hitlag. Holding A (or Z which also acts as an A input) on the 3rd hit until after you IASA out of the jab sequence will always be beneficial since rapid punches are triggered by comparing your total A input duration vs total time. The reason holding the 3rd input helps is because each A input duration is only determined on release, so if you never actually release the 3rd A input and IASA while still holding it that 3rd one doesn't get included in the total at all.

Gentlemans are made easier by keeping your total A input duration low (releasing the A button faster when doing the 1st and 2nd punches and holding the 3rd input to omit it), and your total time high (spacing one or more of the punches farther apart and hitting something which adds hitlag to the total time). As the total A input becomes shorter and/or more hitlag is added, the time between punches can be shorter while still getting the gentleman. When the total A input becomes longer and/or less or no hitlag is added you will need to space the punches out more."[/quote]

Adding more of what Magus420 has said about the Gentleman.

You rapid jab when the total time holding A/attack compared the total time is above a certain amount/ratio. You can stay under that without holding the 3rd one but the total time needs to be higher. Holding the 3rd one then IASAing out of it just makes it so the 3rd input is never counted towards your total A input time, so the total time can be less and still get the gentleman.
The thread this is from is a really good read. Also, if you ever want to know about mechanics Magus knows it all so just do a search with his name and do a keyword search on whatever you want to know about it.
