Just practice your technical skills against a Lv 1 computer if you seek to get faster.

Marth's speed has certain limitations.Even though he can move pretty quickly,he's not really the type for fast frantic combat, he has rather intelligent and controling play style.

just don't be afraid to mix up your options.

don't worry about speed . marths game is primary based on spacing but if you want to play faster i would suggest wavedashing a lot more so you can control a lot of space and do it in a short period of time i hope that helps sorry ( ^.^ )

Marth is a character whose skill can really only develop when fighting other people.
Not entirely true; while people are indeed the best to train with, you can practice spacing with level 1 CPU's.

Anyways, level 1 CPU's are what I train on; I'm in the same situation as you. It can get boring, however >.>.

you can practice some basic tech on your own. Learn it in training mode or against a lvl1 comp. Then try incorporating it into your normal play style it while playing against a higher level computer. Then learn to actually use it when playing a human.

The most important thing is probably just going to your regional board and getting in contact with the good smashers around your area. That's the best way to learn how to play faster. Btw, NJ has a pretty good scene to my knowledge.

Just practice shuffled fairs and nairs against lvl 1 computers or even training mode. Do *not* practice just against lvl 9s - they don't play anything like real human players: they hardly ever ariel and are unnaturally good at powershielding. If you fancy a tougher match or you are getting bored vs a lvl 8 or something. When I don't have anybody around I just practice shuffled nairs and double fair L-canceled on level ones, but it is really up to you. Oh yeah, practice wavedashing as well!

Marth is all about rhythm, chaingrabbing, and mindgames.
what he said. Marth really is about getting into his rhythm, so you know the best moments of when to attack, chain grabbing to get KOs at low percentages and to control your opponent's movements, and mind games to stay unpredicatable and keep them at a distance.

Marth's most crucial point to me though is his spacing. If you don't get spacing down then the three poitns of marth just mentioned all go to waste.

i can relate to you bc i don't have many peopel to play with. I watch amatuer and pro videos to better my performance. Well work on ur tech skills, and yes it is possible to work on mind games without playing ne one, i did its simple all u need to know is how u would react to certain things and minipulate it.

playing faster doesn't necessarily mean moving faster even though that is a big part of it. its being able to react quickly to all possible situations. what i would do would be to play other characters against marth in a fashion that you think is close to a human that uses them all the time. this will increase your knowledge of where characters will end up and what is going to come next. so when it happenes in real time, you know what you could do to get out of the situation

as for increasing speed, it would help to practice wavedashing into dash dances and dash dancing into wavesahes. once you get that down, you should throw in a couple of SHFFL'd fairs and such inbeween them and then continue with the wavedashing and such

IMO, no characters need speed, all the person who's playing them needs is a brain.
Marth is a character that needs tips, so yes spacing is important. I would just practice combos against Level 4-8 computers.

Play against Level 1 Computers and work on combos and practicing moving from one move to the next as quickly and efficiently as possible.

One of the things I think has helped accelerate my game has actually been learning when to use the jab and the dtilt. They're really fast and although it feels kinda forced in the beginning, they can really help you flow from one chain to another if you do it enough.
