First play it on the wii, it gets less lag.then order the 780p cable extension, and voila, no different lag
If you have an hdtv, nintendo will give you a cable for it that will be designed to improve graphics and reduce lag.

step 1. Don't play on a HDTV

step 2. spend all the money you would've spent on an HDTV and use it to go to tournaments.

According to IGN, the Wii is shipped with a 480i cable, and there are 480p cables available to order from a 3rd part. But I've never heard of a 780p cable for the Wii. Can you show me a link? I'm very interested in this.

I'm 99.9% sure that the wii will only run in 480p. This does NOT eliminate lag.

Proof of 780p please?

And even if that was the case, many hdtv's (including mine) run at a native resolution of 1080i - so even with 780p, there would still be some lag.

If you have 309$ you can reduce hdtv lag with a 720p hdtv to 1/10 of a frame buy using the xrgb upscanner from japan.Youll have to run the game at 480 progressive scan using the converter to do all the upscanning. The Xrgb scanner does a much nicer a faster job that the stock scaler that comes with the HDTV.

OR you can buy the DVDO i scan vp 20 with the gaming card and that machine will let match the signal coming from the Wii or gamecube with coponent cables to your TV.Meaning it will create a 720p or whatever you need signal from the cube or wii to your HDTV.That would eliminate all lag.But the price is $1800!!!!

For now unless your filthy rich is to just play on a standard television unless you want to begin sucking at melee... Wii sucks for not supporting HDTV!!

I could buy a new tv with $1800, SMALLER SCREEN, THOUGH. oh and i think i saw cheaper component cables and scanners you can buy from the chinese.Highly illegal and possibly explosive, it is worth it.

If your HDTV supports VGA input (used to hook your computer to the TV), you can get cables for that, which will reduce all lag.
