How to get into online tournies?

Go to the online tournament forums and you can sign up for tournaments there. You will need a Challonge account to be placed on the tournament bracket.

I've found that much, but I'm stoll unsure of how to get to the smash room when the tourney starts or if I have to do a certain thing when I get there, etc.

Usually in the description on the bracket page, there will be a link to a chat room or something. You exchange NNID's with your opponent, play them, and then report the score on the bracket.
