How to edit items?

I've been thinking about balancing the items, but I can't figure out how to edit their properties.

I'd imagine that it could be done through hexing, though I have no clue how to do that. I'm also unsure which folder in the iso contains their data.

I'm sorry if I've missed a thread that teaches hexing. If I have, I'd appreciate it if someone could link me.

If there isn't an appropriate thread, I would appreciate any help that could be given. I know, its probably not an easy thing to explain, but I'm willing to listen .

Sorry, but to my knowledge, it is currently not known how to directly edit any item aside from changing their appearance or swapping their behavior with another item's.

Major bump ^^;
No matter what I name the item common3 file (I've tried common3, common3_en, and I've tried exporting the ItmCommonBrres by itself), item changes won't show up at all. Is it because I'm using a USB Loader?
