How to deal with projectile spammers?

Today I faced a link. I knew i had better skill and tech than him, but he would just spam arrows, boomerang, and bomb. We were about half and half win rate. But my capt. falcon couldn't touch hime, and it bothered me because I knew I was better than him. Any tips?

I absolutely hate fox and falco.
They're not the only fighters who can reflect projectiles though. There's also Mario, Zelda, Pit, Rosalina, Palutena, Dr. Mario, and Dark Pit. As for Ness, he can only absorb energy-based projectiles, so he probably isn't the best choice against Link, but he does render Samus's Charge Shot useless.

I usually just rush them down. Most project spammers will panic roll behind you once you get close to put some distance between you and him so try to punish that.

Try to look for any patterns in what projectiles they use so you know what's coming next.

I should probably point out that while Rosalina can render Link's arrows and boomerang useless, she has to watch out for his bombs, as they'll still explode, even after being affected by Gravitational Pull.

Ness's F-Smash reflects as well

This is my problem with Smash 4 -- someone has an issue and people immediately say "pick another character".
While I understand the game can't be balanced, it's disappointing to see people jump the character ship so freaking fast when a "flaw" arises.

As far as projectiles, see what you can do about reading when Toon Link is going to go for an arrow as well as what his preferred movement methods are.
For a slow and fat character, it's incredibly difficult and quite possibly one of the most tedious things in the game, but with your speed, I'd think you could shorthop the arrow and possibly be able to punish him for it.
Also, try catching his bombs and using them yourself.
For boomerang, I'd see about getting behind him so you don't have to worry about an approach getting interrupted by its return, not to mention the hitstun's enough to where he pretty much gets rewarded no matter what he chucks at you, so don't spend too much time trying to intercept his stuff with SHFF'd nairs and the like unless you feel that you have to.

I don't play Falcon in Smash 4, but your tilts should have enough range to force him into shield at a decent distance, allowing you the chance to better pressure him without having to worry about him launching another projectile.
The best advice I could give you is attempt to stay as close as you can, even if it means just crossing him up with jumps -- the more you stay on him, the less he feels it's safe to throw something else.
I know very well that it's not easy (trust me), but I've come to learn that it's what works for me, so I hope it works for you.

Ness can also absorb bombs now for some reason.

I find it easiest to just play around and screw with their head. Pretend to go in, but don't, then actually go in. Fake 'em out. I was facing a Samus and all they did was charge their charge shot, then begin spamming grab and either forward or up aerial to rack up damage. They literally did nothing else, unless they had enough distance to use side-b missiles, hoping to finish with the charge shot when they've done enough damage.

I used Pikachu in the match and at first I fell for their silly little strategy, but then realized if I baited them and then went in and grabbed them, brought them into the air, and used uair and bair for damage racking, I could get them. Also mixed in QAs to fake them out, used a couple good reads and dsmash roll punishes, and eventually managed to beat them through some well placed usmash and fsmash.

Use your character's strengths to your advantage. Don't rush in right away, give yourself time to figure out their very simple strategy, then start going in when you're comfy. Best part about spammers is they absolutely have no idea how to deal with people who are adaptive towards such playstyles, and can be very easily beaten because of it.

Sometimes, for any spammer, I choose the same character and spam back at them. Was doing random online teams earlier and faced a pit who refused to stop spamming >B. Therefore, I chose Dark Pit and counter-spammed him to death...he left the lobby after that match XD

Might not work for every player, but showing them how annoying it really is sometimes helps

You're all nerds
Ok how about the mii or greninja or lucario

Thats not fox or falco and greninja counter range is huge and mii is not the ones you hate
ima guess he's playing on for glory, so miis are out of the question

lucario can handle link, but he cant out-spam everybody on flat stages with barely any options to approach someone
for glory just makes brain-dead campers and spammers seem like way more trouble than they're worth

I'd say to use shield pressure. Just shield a lot of the projectiles and slowly get closer, then study what they do so you can follow up and punish them for spamming. If you can use good Air dodges and shielding, you'll apply enough pressure to get them to stop spamming so hard. I've had this same problem with Link players as well.

Pick up Rosalina. She absolutely shuts projectile spammers down. She can gimp Ness' only recovery and render 3/4 of mega man's moveset, including his forward smash, useless. Her orbital thing lingers a bit so the timing is forgiving as well.

It's fun knowing Link is really good this game!
He's quite easy to deal with, if you know how to get in.
Most don't really use his jab, instead they abuse his fsmash and dash.
If you can bait Link into using one of these instead of a projectile, then punish accordingly.
Also you just shield most projectiles and force him to approach, then you can just grab him or whatevers

Ness can actually absorb Link's bombs this time, but yeah, I'd go with someone a bit more defensive. Palutena works very well against him, and many of the others that were posted here could give him trouble as well.

Depending on the character, fighting in the air can be an option. WFT's header can also be a good way to hit them due to it's unusual path.

The bombs were very manageable, just grab them it was the constant arrow and boomerang that built up damage. I would try to short hop him and fair or bair him, usually results in a grab or abusive fsmash.

this.

but if he's able to handle you rushing him, then you have no choice but to either change characters and projectile/reflect spam back (which should be easy since you're better than him) OR take an insanely long time shield-approaching him while getting in damage little by little until he tires or freaks out that his strategy isn't working.

spamming dsmash when you're within one roll can work wonders on a scaredy-cat roller.
