How often does tripping happen?

haha i added the tipper bit.
if you mean natural tripping then it's really low, like 2% or something.
if you're worried about it then just cstick for fsmashes and try to SH instead of pivoting during a dash and limit how much you dash.

I believe the random tripping rate is 1%, but 2% for Luigi.

Yes it's happened in big matches. It's a part of the game, unfortunately (though there is a Brawl mod where the only gameplay change is no random tripping).

As an example of a trip costing someone big-time... go to about 10:00 - it's about the worst possible time to trip, and the worst result that can come from a trip [and even worse in the context of the set I suppose]: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mijuVqioX-4

It's usually not this extreme though.

I think he meant random tripping.
