How many times do you pummel?

When you grab how many times do you pummel? Is it the same everytime? Situational? Character specific? For me it depends on the character I'm using.

Yoshi - 1-2
Marth - 1
Shulk - 0
Little Mac - 0
Ness - 2-3

It depends on the character I'm using and the percentage my opponent is at. For example, with Link I won't pummel if my opponent is at low percent, I'll pummel twice if my opponent's at mid percent, and pummel 4 times if the opponent is at a high percent.

A majority of my pummels are 2 hits (3-5 with Samus) that lead into a back throw; unless I'm Robin, then I'll pummel once and toss'em because Robin's hits are sluggish and easy to break free of.

As many times as possible. Hell, sometimes I don't even go for a throw, just that sweet, sweet pummel damage.

I mash until I think they'll be breaking out soon. When playing with friends, that largely depends on how frantically I hear them mashing buttons.

So many variables. I mostly take into consideration what throw I'll use and how stale it is along with the percentage my opponent is at since the higher the damage is the longer it will take for your opponent to break free.

At low percents at the most I'll do two and then above 100% I'll go to five while using Marth.

Actually, at most once (and then mostly on accident). I prefer using throws for distancing or setups for attacks, so pummeling just isn't part of my mentality. Should probably change that...

I generally play Shulk so I stick to only 1-2 pummels because of how slow they come out.

For some characters, it's somewhat ideal to actually pummel till your opponent gets grab released. I showcase this here in the yoshi boards. For Yoshi, when a Rob/Shiek gets air released they can be hit by a dash attack (somewhat reliably). Otherwise, when Yoshi gets a grounded grab release, he can follow with a jab combo into dash attack. Of course this is not a true combo as shield can be buffered when getting released, but it's a good tool to catch your opponent off guard.

But otherwise to answer the question, if they are at a higher percent I tack on 3-4 pummels before throwing them off!
