Is there anything we can do?

can someone make another melee?

can we somehow convince sakurai to do it for us?

can we make "balanced melee" or something?

is there anything we can do about melee coming to an end?

Melee isn't going anywhere for some time. I think that as long as the Smash community remains strong, then Melee will continue to be a staple inclusion in any Smash event.

wasn't 2007 the best year ever?(at the time). and then melee nearly died after mlg dropped it.

i hope it doesn't go away anytime soon. but the closest we get to a true melee sequel is pm. yet, that still doesn't feel quite right.
idk, with smash 4 coming out i'm just a little worried about the future of melee.

i've put so much time into this game and i like it so much, it would be a shame for it to just, become irrelevant.

Well I'd say Melee has a better chance of surviving this time than last, as there is now a precedent for it to not be replaced by the newest game. Unless Nintendo starts shelling out money for big Smash 4 tournaments until they make a Smash 5, I don't think you'll see much of a drop in melee, at least for the time being.

The game is 13 years old and is in MLG again. The only other game I can think of that has stayed competitive that long is Street Fighter 2. I don't think this game is going anywhere until the generation who are old enough to have owned a GameCube dies. I know I'll still be playing it for many years after Half Life 3 comes out and I'm not going to be the only one to say that.

Can't say exactly how long, but I can tell you there will be at least one person playing until I can't hold a gcc anymore.

Melee should be around for a long time in the competitive community. I don't think it's going anywhere soon.

I fully believe modding is the next step in keeping Melee "alive"
Don't change moves or anything. But I'd like for them to add a stage or two. More than likely just one. From the 20XX hack I think there are three stages totally worth using.
Balanced Green Greens. Nice stage aesthetics and layout.
That new Yoshi's Island 64 is nice. Though I hear diagonal platforms make for strange techs meaning you can live longer.
Finally the new Kongo Jungle. At first the way the platforms and stage kind of wobbled around annoyed me. But once I realized it changes from where you land I found it to be a really cool stage. And it's basically a crazy Wario Ware. My favorite 20XX stage.

But I don't think we can ever expect enough people to get hacked Melee for that to be worth the time and effort.
