How I use U-tilt...

What I like to do sometimes is when my opponent is hanging on the ledge, and I know they are going to stay there until they think it's safe to get back up, I whip out a u-tilt.

As we all know, the cocked leg-up just screams "punishment". Often my opponents will forget that they are vulnerable and try to hit me with a second jump aerial off of the ledge. This typically ends with them burning in Volcano Kick flames going "WTF just happened?".

The range of u-tilt is so deceptive in that situation that many people don't respond properly. If they are hanging or are slightly below the ledge without invincibility frames, that's free damage for you. Oddly enough, this doesn't have as much KO potential as if they were on the ground getting hit by it. But imagine how disrupting this is for people who think they are safe to get whacked by such a rare move.

This is only good for a few uses depending on the opponent and how often you use this. Only attempt if you have analyzed your opponent well during the match. A good use for this can be tether-stallers like Link/Samus.

I loved using the Up-Tilt as a finisher in Melee, though it was for fun :p I think it had more knockback than the Warlock Punch...

One interesting feature of the uptilt is the 'vacuum field' it causes before hitting. You ever notice the smoke coming off the ground in front of Ganondorf? If your opponent is in that area (and on the ground), they'll be slowly dragged within range of Ganondorf's attack. Basically, you can use it out of range of their attacks, and if they get back on the stage, they'll be pulled into the up-tilt and KO'd.
