Everyone has a story to tell with how they met their Brawl character aside from playstyle. Some may be full of lolz and some deeper than that. I play quite a few characters but some always stood out. Now sit down and let me enlighten you to my character decisions.

1. Sonic: I could go on forever about this (My friends should know). To put it simply, Sonic was the first Video Game character I met. I clocked so many hours with Sonic starting at three years old. I then devoted myself to collect ALL things Sonic. Every game he was in, he was always my character of choice. His style became mine as well, so it translated in most the games I played (Especially fighting games). Man was I ever so happy that he was announced for Brawl. From Japan release to present day, I stuck with him and never looked back. He even helped get my name out there in the Smash scene mostly. I can say that Sonic's gonna be with me until I drop dead
. To this day, I'm still one of the Sonic players held in high regard in my state, possibly in the U.S. as one of the top Sonic players.

2. Ice Climbers: My first impression was "Who the **** was that?!" No wonder, their game came out before I was even born. I ignored them for some time when I started Melee. I ended up reading a guide on GameFAQS on them and they sounded interesting. Before that, I managed to play Ice Climber for the NES with my friend. It was so fun to play then I decided, let me try them out. It was the best decision I made in Melee, I mean I like the cold after all. They saw me through my Melee days as another character I play (Lower than Pikachu and Mario). I started to develop a soft side for them and used them more (Everyone hated me when I used them). They eventually became my first true mains in a Smash game and I used them to do all the things in event mode where you can choose a character freely. I still used Pika and Mario but it wasn't as much as ICs. Then I transitioned to competitive Melee with ICs on my side. Couldn't do anything since I was young but I still was determined to bring them up by studying pros like Chudat, Wobbles etc. I eventually made my own style with them. To this day, I still have them with me (Despite me going to Sonic). If I was to stop playing Sonic in Brawl, you will surely see me chilling in the frozen peaks.

3. Pikachu: Short story really. This actually came from the Pokemon craze of the 90's. I was a Pokenut back then, collected cards, smuggled Game Boys in my 5th grade class, making trades and deals with both cards and game. I was a fan of Pikachu due to the anime and always used him in my Red and Blue teams. I went to my cousins house and played Smash for the first time on the N64, I never owned a N64 so I never got to truly play it until Melee. I always picked Pikachu due to fanboyism XD. Sure when I got the game, it died down a bit, I still used Pika as a character. Although I don't main Pika, he still appears from time to time to help me in Brawl. Time for me to look up some Anther vids lol.

4. Mario: Well, come on it's Mario. I was introduced to him right after Sonic. Mario games were epicsauce and I loved every minute of it. I started using Mario alot when I played Melee, although I transitioned to ICs in the end. Mario taught me the tricks and the trade of Smash when I first got the game. In Melee, he was a secondary.In Brawl though, he didn't really see much light. I used him like once in a blue moon but now that's changed. I'm starting to learn him again, he hasn't stirred me wrong yet. Nowadays he's schoolin Brawl nubs for me in place of my best characters, just so he can get better and get to my other characters levels.

5. Snake: My first thought with Brawl was that I was going to be the "3rd party master". I like the Metal Gear series and was shocked to see Snake here. I automatically called dibs on maining Snake before Sonic came in the Brawl picture. That's where I conceived my name "BlueTerrorist"

Blue=Sonic

Terrorist=Snake

Therefore BlueTerrorist is a fancy way of saying "SonicSnake".

I stopped with Snake though due to him being way overused in the beginning. He was a true secondary of sorts when I received Brawl. I think to myself even though I say "I don't let Tiers dictate who I use", why did I stop using Snake? Was it because of what people would think, in a way I discriminated a character that I was gonna use from jump. I can't changed what I did now, now there's no way to make my Snake different from the others. I started to work with Snake again in the end though, but how far will he go? Will I go with my original plan again? Nobody knows but me.

6. Diddy: Diddy's a special one. Man I remember the Diddy only runs I did when playing DKC when I was younger. He was my favorite out of all the kongs. I also use him in Mario sports games as a main. What about Brawl you may ask? Diddy was a true secondary to Sonic when I was playing in Japanese release. He was similar in a way and he fitted my style like a glove. He was also with me during the first big Wifi tourney Smash Wars along with Sonic, Snake and ICs. I kinda stopped playing him for a bit due to something similar to Snake but not as bad. During my Smash career, Diddy did put in some work and also was one of the characters who helped me win my last tourney on Wifi Wars (lol Wifi XD). With people like Ninjalink and ADHD around, I was discouraged from using Diddy any longer as a character. However, I still decided to keep him in the end. He was last used at a birthday Smashfest last year. He did receive praise from the spectators during my match against a Marth, which made me happy because it felt like people only thought that I was only good it Sonic and a noob with everyone else. Guess I thought wrong. I'm sure Diddy will be used again, he's the closest thing to Sonic and also fits my style really well. Could he end up taking #2 from my ICs O_O? Maybe not, but we'll have to see how things shape up.

So, have any similiar stories share them :3. I'd like to hear from you.

Those are pretty thought-out reasons. o.O

I can't really make a huge list like yours because my mains jump around a lot, to the point where if I win with a character just once I get bored. Whatever though, it isn't like I don't have characters that I like to use time and time again. I suppose the first would be-

C. Falcon: I really didn't ever use him back in Melee or even when I played Smash on the N64, but he' just one of those guys that the playstyle suits me and I just enjoy playing him. From the moment I started to learn of his God-like status in Melee, I just kind of stuck with him and used him. He's just a fun character.

Jigglypuff: Jiggly is probably the first character I ever used in Smash, and I enjoy playing as her even now in Brawl. I too was (still am) a Pokemon guy, so I feel as though I have to use at least one of those guys. Plus, she's just so darn cute and puffy. =3 And yeah, I like jumping around.

Fox: Never even liked him until Brawl. I've just recently started using him, but I really like his playstyle and how he moves. I would compare him to my Melee main, Pichu, a least to the extent that he's fast and he's cool...but maybe that would be pushing it.

Peach: She's awesome and I like how I can sorta WD with her float cancely thingy or whatever. She pivots after you do it, which is crazy confusing for the opponent since they can just eat a bair or a hopefully sweetspotted fsmash. Oh, glide-tossing is great, and so is dair. :D

Ah, what the heck, I'll mention Pichu too.

Pichu: He's my favorite Smash character ever. It's not even because he's cute and a Pokemon, but honestly he is perfect for me. I all-out main him in Melee, no one else. You have no idea how fun it is to shffl nairs and uairs, and then gimp with tbolt. Also, it's hella fun to shoot the tbolt so when you land you run inside of it, like it's a shield. Pure awesome in a little package. Plus he hurts himself, which is the winning quality of him. Either that or his taunts.

Ganondorf: When playing Melee a long time ago (think 2006-ish), I used to play Sheik, introducing her to a friend of mine. After that, my friend started playing Sheik and I decided to step away from using Sheik. I used a variety of characters to attempt to beat my friend (Falco, mostly), until I for some reason picked the extremely manly man Ganondorf... And won. Easily, might I add. Since that day, I've mained the G-Mang in Melee and Brawl when it came out.

Marth (Melee): Just recently, I went to my very first Melee tourney. Needless to say, I got *****! My Falcon and Ganon just weren't good enough. I had some moments, but I ended up getting last place. So I thought "Perhaps I shouldn't use a limiting character at this point", and decided to main a top tier character. I'm not very technical (read: not at all), so Fox and Falco were gone. Then I could choose between two extremely gay characters: Marth and Sheik. Sheik didn't appeal to me at all, due to her limiting playstyle. You can't exactly make ftilt -> fair creative, can you? So I tried my hand at Marth in some friendlies. I did an uthrow -> utilt -> uair -> fsmash for the KO. I loved it. It felt good, creative, looked fancy and had an explosive amount of power... This all actually happened just yesterday!

Samus (64): Samus was the cool robot. 'Nuff said.

The others aren't all that interesting. In Brawl it was "I need a top tier character to counter Olimar" and chose Falco because other characters just didn't interest me (no creativity in playstyle, mostly). In Melee I chose Falcon because... he's manly. What else do you want?

For Brawl:
Sonic- Highly straight forward, just loved the speed and racking up some serious damage leaving my opponents frustrated at not being able to defend themselves. Just chose him as soon as I unlocked him. Still mastering him though.

Captain Falcon- He's just too cool. Just to goof off online I play Captain Falcon since he's just always been a fun character to use. There's also nothing like Reverse Falcon Punching your opponent.

Ike- Since I started Brawling online I noticed a lot of people using Ike. At first I though he was slow and chunky. I mained Bowser but after a while Ike replaced him because of his invincibility frames and just general BAMFness.

Sheik- I don't use Sheik, yet. I plan on training with her since it doesn't hurt to pick up another character now and then. Plus the general graphics of her attacks are pretty good to look at.

Metaknight and Snake- to me, they're just a no-no. They may be great but I just can't stand to look at them. I've picked them up after reading the Tier List but I just don't like looking at either of them. Meta Knight reminds me too much of pinball and I just can't think straight while fighting one. Snake just doesn't seem to belong in Brawl since he just seems to human and his mullet kinda freaks me out. I'm from Idaho and the last thing I need to see is a mullet. People give me enough crap about that already. And I don't even have a mullet. Stupid stereotypes. So basically I like characters that are nice to look at and look good doing what they do.

Samus-Super Metroid was the very first game I ever played. We practically grew up together.

Link-My friend introduced me to a little game called Ocarina of Time. 'Nuff said.

Lemme see...

Game & Watch: I was honestly awful at Brawl, and G&W was the only character that clicked for me. This inspired me to use him in Melee, with far less success.

Marth: I recognized Marth from the badass original Fire Emblem when he was introduced in Melee. In Melee he was always closely behind Roy as my main. In Brawl, before I realized G&W clicked for me, Marth was my character of choice due to exclusion of Roy.

Ike: I played Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn and fell in love with the character. His say-nothing personality, his true caring nature, and the gargantuan sword he carried. When he was announced for Brawl, I expected a character similar to Roy. I got the game and realized I couldn't win against certain people. He is now only used as a backup.

Ganondorf: I love spikes, and he has my favorite spike in the game. Due to this, I started an immediate training regimen with him, resulting in me being a respectable player.

Lucario: At first, I had no idea how to play this guy and decided to never use him. I was screwing around at a friendly match one day, and I chose random. He felt more natural than before and I started using him.

Pit: My personality is very close to Pit. If I'm in a fight, I'll shoot arrows then run and hide. I was actually pretty pissed off Pit made it (and still am), but I decided to use him as a character between mains and secondaries. I just can't stand that annoying voice for too long, so I don't play as much as I should.

Sonic:
This was lol. Although being hyped for brawls release, I somehow managed to completely forget about the dojo for about 4 months (I blame my new DS). upon checking it at around december, I found out Sonic was in brawl, a few months after everyone else knew. I hadnt owned any sonic game prior, and the only one i had played was SA2:B at a friends house. So being as bored as I was, I decided to 'acquire' the entire Sonic X series, Sonic heroes and Sonic Rush on the DS. I always hated sonic from some blind childish fanboyism so I had never watched any of his shows of played any games, and I soon realised how stupid that move was. Sonic really seemed to have infinitely more personality than most of the brawl cast so far (and history) and I figured he was a pretty cool guy, so ill main him :)

Lucario:
Now that I was actually following the dojo, when the 4 character leak of ness, jigglypuff, lucario (and the other one i forget >_<) Im like 'awesome ness is back! my old main from melee and 64. Im also saying to myself 'who/what the hell is lucario'. So I found his wikipedia page and one look at him and its like... yeah im maining him. Blue fuzzy ninja jackal with spikes, red eyes and dreadlocks wtf. before I even knew about the blue fire :p. Similarly with sonic, I decided to actually go and get the game he appeared in (Diamond) and watched his movie. even though that stuff is wayyyy too immature for me i didnt care :p
He was the only other character I blindly said i would main from the start no matter what.

Snake:
At first I told myself I would never be a tier ***** and would never touch snake. But then I used his nair, and his DACUS. Hes just too fun to play as. Once I knew for a fact he was indeed top tier I picked him up seriously to help with tournaments if I needed him. I still dislike the tag of tier whoring so I decided not to be just a snake user, but a snake main, and take the time to learn all his tricks and watch all the vids of the best snakes.

Other Notables,
Metaknight: Once you get really good at brawl, MK is just too good to ignore. Having a character with all the options which allows you to use all your tech and spacing skills to the best of your ability and destroy the opponent is too good. Dair and shuttle loop gimps at very low %'s are also always satisfying :)

Ness: Old main from 64 and melee. I dont really feel the need to practice with him often as he has such a massive amount of my playtime from the old games. While still one of my best characters, He doesnt have any of the traits which make the other characters so fun to play, while also having almost no personality outside of brawl (at least for me, we dont get earthbound games lol). btw PKT2 never hits good players :p

Marth- During the old days, I used to main Link in SSB64. No particular reason, I thought Link was a badass so I mained him until Melee. I unlocked Marth, and curious to play each character at least once, I played through 1-player with him. He was good, but was easily replaced by Roy when I unlocked him not only 15 minutes later. Played Roy for about half a year, until I played my good friend and fellow SWF member, Pho for the first time. My other friend advertised him as this God of Smash, so I was skeptical. I played him with Roy, and lost pretty badly. Pho told me that it was a waste playing Roy, because I lacked the maneuverability, and suggested I played Marth. So I switched back, and within a month I was able to hold my own against Pho. It's been years, and I've never thought of switching Marth for another main, or even picking up another secondary. I love the playstyle, and I love capitializing on every mistake my opponent makes. There will be no others.

Game and Watch- i wanted a quirky character that none of my friends played, so here we are. I also played his games somewhat, but i barely remember. He owns.

Marth- after i saw Ken H. play for the first time, i stuck with Marth because i could just do so many awesome things with him. He also was rarely boring.

Dedede- a floating penguin with a hammer that blows stuff up. Just can't hate him.

Jiggs- my love/hate main. She can sometimes suck horribly, or really come through for me. I wanted a Pokemon that was awesome and had good jumping powah. Mewtwo's gone and i hate lucario soooooooo much, so Jiggs fills the gap that lucario couldn't.

Mario - My first main ever since SSB64 to Brawl, he's never let me down yet, in actuality when I first got smash I was going to main Pikachu because of the pokemon craze at the time but I found his style a little to erratic for me, so I decided to check Mario out, when I did I was shocked, the perfect play style for me, add to the fact I was (And still am) a Mario fan, I loved it, then melee came and with the addition of the cape, I basically ruled the local competition and owned many a people, then Brawl came and I finally got my chance at the tournaments, needless to say I was actually really good, did way better than i thought, I basically beat almost everyone with the sexy yellow cape, Mario made Smash special for me, made me love the game.

Sonic - Ahh Sonic, I loved his games, playing them since I was 3 like someone else in here, only thing besides games I own of him is a plush doll my older brother gave me long ago, I've always been a sonic fan and I've always loved speedy games but I didn't like the fast characters of melee, when they announced Sonic for brawl, I said to my friends, I call Sonic and anyone who gets in my way will be ran over with epicness. I don't use him as much as i do Mario or my next main I'll mention, but he has been a trusty character for really tight spots, plus I love multi-hit attacks, they really wreak imo.

Lucario - And then there is Lucario, originally one of my friends called Lucario and I wasn't really interested. Then I unlocked him so I decided to test him out, as soon as I did I told my friend "Sorry dude, but I'm gonna start using Lulu from now on" but for some strange reason I suddenly stopped no real reason why. Then recently I started using him again to the point where it seems he is my best main, gaining praise from better smashers than me, his play style quickly became my own in most ways (You hurt me and I'll WRECK you =D). His blue fire was icing on the cake seeing as I'm regarded as a pyromaniac in games.

YOSHI:
Ah Yoshi...my tried and true Smash character for the ages. It all started on the N64, when I got yoshi's story, and ran threw it non stop. Allways trying to get all the levels unlocked. Then I found SSB, and thought it was awesome that yoshi was in it, but disappointed that it wasnt as good GFX as Yoshi's Story, so I didnt play it much <.<;

Then melee came. I was still a youngin...and yoshi carried me through, I got....ok at melee, didnt learn much however.

Brawl, the dawn of a new era of yoshi-dom. Brawl is when I consider myself to get "good". I spent countless hours practicing online, with my main dino of course.

Who knows where the future will take me , but one thing's for sure: that green, egg-pooping ******* will be there.

TEH BOOZER:
Bowser is the iconic villain of video-gaming. Also, hes a tank. Ive found he fits my style niceley...and in Brawl, he may be threatening Yoshi at a spot of co-mainship instead of a secondary <.<;

Really, he fits me like a glove

I CANT LET YOU DO THAT, :fox::
Wolf is just too cool. He was also the fist spacie in smash bros. to hold my attention, seeing as he can take a beating...

THE BLUE BLUR:
Sonic has been there since the days of Yoshi, but nfortunatley...despite compliments (online) of being one of the toughest sonic players people have fought...I have kinda...forgot how to play him well >.>;

JESUS HIMELF :falcon: YESZ!!

What can I say? Gold Nipples turn me on...
