Considering the game was supposed to come out on monday, how finished do you think the game is? I'm pretty sure they're at the debug stage. Because any new features they're adding in now are why we're having the delay, right?

The only thing that can be added now is music. Music is usually the last thing produced

they could be adding more ATs, Pokeball, Trophies, stickers, music and editing some models to make them "prettier"

They're playing the game while laughing at us in the face. "YOU DON'T HAVE IT!! NEH NEH NEH NEH NEEHH!!"

...and perhaps they're removing bugs and adding stickers/trophies.

yes at this stage typically all the fundamentals'd be done, things that are needed- characters, new stages, SSE, modes, newer sounds are probably all done. Id say if they arent debugging already, they might be adding or working on would be like the menu, interface, and those old maps and sounds (like in this weeks update "melee stages"). sounds are also likely. But this is just what i would think. features and stages are most likely already done.

I think the game is finished and now their just doing endless playtesting to find bugs and whatnot.

At this point, I don't think they'd be adding anything.

No it isn't. Not even nearly. The whole way through the production of the game, a seperate team of musicians work on the score. Writing an entire score (especially considering Smash Bros. Brawl will have the LARGEST musical score of ANY GAME ever produced) takes a REALLY long time. Note that we've been getting music updates since the new Dojo opened....

I think half of the group is adding stuff, and the other half is removing stuff, like bugs and whatnot. that's probably how far they are into the game.
But what they're adding is very likely small things like polishing this and that or adding an Item or two.... Nothing major like getting new characters into the game or stages.
Those were very likely settled even before it was being released in Dec. 3rd.

It was finished years ago and they're delaying it just to piss us off.
No. o_o It was done a few months ago, but definately not years ago, otherwise they would've capitalized on releasing it earlier and gaining much more sales than Melee ever did (people bought a GC just for Melee and it came out within a month or two of GC's release).

Nothing too new would be added. Things that do not affect gameplay, would not be being added for if there was a glitch/bug with it, it'd take time to fix. I have a feeling they took the extra time to fix online, debug, and add some characters that were originally cut or not going to be in.

After Sonic's inclusion, they probably took time to add things from the SEGA universe and from whatever other companies they're adding things from.

I would agree, the game is pretty much done for the most part, but they have to make sure the characters are balanced are and there aren't any unbelievable combos

Omg, do some of you acualy think they just decided to include Sonic, I mean come on, this was planed out years ago

im sure it's done, but they dont want to slow the sales of any other wii games, thus they are keeping it out of the holliday rush. most likely, though, because there isnt anything major for Christmas 08, it will delayed for that to give the wii a final "unable to find on store shelves" period

Most likely, they had Brawl completely ready for the December 3rd release when they announced it, but encountered a snag in play-testing, and delayed it two more months to work out the kinks.

So now, I imagine they're debugging. It's far too late to make any big additions at this point.

Most likely playing a lot, debugging, and making the online play stronger.

Debugging, play testing to find bugs, maybe tweaking some characters, adding in some stickers and trophies, dotting their I's and crossing their T's.

Looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool!

Personally, I think they're just photoshopping things in for updates. No actual game.

I think that they're pretty much done. They just need to see if they can find any glitches or make the game work more smoothly.

For all we know, the Feb. release date could have been in their minds all along. I bet the Dec. 3rd release date was just to appease American audiences at E3. Testament to this is the fact that no Japanese release date was given until they announced our 'delay'.

As for where they are in development right now, I wouldn't know. I don't know the first thing about making video games.

Well, Brawl was planned to be released in like 2 days from now, so I assume that pretty much everything needed to be done is done.
But in E-For-All, it looked like there was a lot of bugs in attacks that like.. added 800% for random reasons.
Hopefully, they fix all of that stuff, and fix most problems seen in E-For-All, like people living for way too long.
And with the extra months they got, I hope they add in more special features.
I really doubt they would add more Characters though.

My guess is.. somewhere above 80%.

I personally think it was the combination of sale tactics, debugging/balancing, as well as refining kinks in wi-fi as well.

Then again they have thought of everything =/

Well, they only really had 70 extra days to add anything, (and once again I'd like to mention that I know nothing about making video games) so I would suspect that they would use that time to take out glitches, bugs, etc.

I'm sure they added some little things here and there, tho. Nothing major like another character.

Features, Stages and Characters have to be debugged to great extents, so they probably set a limit that they can't add any more. Maybe ATs and Pokeball Pokemon, too. Other things, with simple interfaces, like trophies, stickers, and music can be added until the end with no problems... So long as they have the database functioning properly.

Dude, if we assume a minimum of 3 songs per stage, and some may have up to 10 for all we know, and factor in about 40 stages, which seems reasonable(although I'm predicting 60ish), that's at least 120 songs. And, seeing as how most of them will not be new arrangements, it's not like they would take forever to make. Brawl is going to be bigger in scope than any game we've seen, if the Dojo is anything to go by.

Anyhow, they were definitely doing some debugging. I also think they might have added a few new features for Stage Builder, like some different shaped platforms and whatnot, and adding stickers/trophies. The most I would say they added is another stage. Another character would have taken too long to program, balance a moveset, and then integrate them into SSE/Event Matches.

Although, remember Melee was made in 9 months, they could pump out some quick characters in 3 extra months if they wanted to.

The game was pushed back when they decided that Xmas belonged to Galaxy alone. The delay from launch to one year later, that was Brawl not being ready, this is just the sales dept. That is not to say they are not fixing up Brawl with the extra time.
