How do you make cool pictures like this?

On SMF and other forums, I've seen some awesome pictures like this.

These obviously aren't made in Paint, so what do you all use to make them?

pfft, i can make stuff like that in paint.

Just kidding. Most people use Adobe Photoshop, but gimp is free and can do similar things (I personally prefer photoshop, even though it costs alot)

Like he said almost all users use Adobe's Photoshop. It's shareware , but there will be a free online version soon.

While you wait, try Picasa's Google (or pay a license of $600 )
