(Sorry, mods, if this is the wrong board. It seems pretty active, so I put it here. :/)

So like, how do you know if you're below average, average, above average, and good/pro level?

Thanks in advance. :)

The key to being good in Smash is always assuming that theres room for improvement. That way you are open to learn things and you don't think you are so good you can't take advice. A good way to tell if you're good is to figure out whether you go auto pilot during a match. If you find yourself not thinking about your actions then someone who does think will be able to beat you. If you can do tech skill pretty consistently then I'd say thats pretty decent. Try and go to tournaments and play people you know are good. Then you can see where you stack up.

TL;DR: Think when you play, learn the techs, and learn the character. If you know those things then you're good but theres always room for improvement. Also stage control, mind games, and limiting the opponents options are good.

This is the wrong place for this kind of stuff though :p.

Play against other competitive players.

If you get your ass kicked most of the time, then you are probably below average.

If you go almost 50/50 without majorly leaning towards wins or losts, you are probably average.

If you tend to win most of the time you play competitively and can give the pros a bit of a tough time, then you are probably above average.

If you can go toe to toe with the likes of M2K, Zero, Mango, PPMD, and other players that are considered the best of the best and win consistently, then you are probably a pro.

Would laugh my ass off if this guy was actually the world's greatest Smash player and had no idea.

I suggest checking out the Project M and Melee boards as well as the Brawl Competitive Discussion boards. Try to go to tournaments to gauge your level or try your luck online.

However, seeing as how the Smash 4 has yet to be released, we are unsure to the competitive nature of the game so until E3/Post-Release, we can only speculate.

I suggest posting this or bringing it up in those above mentioned boards. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask myself or another staff member.
