I've read both 'whats your problem' and other "personal" topics created by smashers and lurkers here at SWF. I can relate to the majority of them.

Crap that goes on in a man's life can be harsh, can drive him to kill others. . .or himself.

It all makes me wonder. . .how do you all keep it together?

Heck im dealing with crap as life begins to say :

oi! playtimes over you need get in gear NOW!
so instead of posting an emo topic spilling all of my personal crap on SWF, i just wanna know. . .how do you deal with it all? how do you cope?

Edit: my post count is 777, i dun want to make a reply yet

Well, most people who know me see me as someone who's always calm and collected, never gets real angry or flustered. And wanting to keep up that image by being strong enough to handle whatever life throws my way is motivation enough for me.

Also, I remind myself how awesome and amazing I am now and then. It's true, in a recent Gallup poll, 96.2% of those polled said they would want to be me if they could.

Tons of it...

I use comedy or sarcasm to cope. I also use the fact that dwelling on your problems doesn't solve them or make them disappear. I can go into detail but I'm feeling really lazy right now...

1) pick something youd like to do.
2) set up a plan to do the above thing.
3) remember that thing while youre trying to accomplish the plan.
4) success!

it can be something as small as wanting to get an ice cream cone or something as big as picking a career. you just need motivation.

No matter how bad things can be they could always be a billion times worse. And if things are feeling down, focus on the good things in your life, even if it's something small, like a game that you can't wait for, ect.

I've went through a lot of crap in my life. Sometimes you have to tell someone about your problems. The things that make me feel better is when you tell someone what is wrong and they listen. Everythings is still going bad around you but you have it off your chest and that is a great first step. Then you got to try and fix the situation. My family doesnt have money because my mom is heavy on drugs. I step up and make the money and pay for the bills. You just have to correct it the best way possible. It wont always make it all better but you have to deal with it the best you can.

There are several things I can do in order to "cope".
  1. I shower.
  2. I exercise.
  3. I go outside and take a walk around.
  4. Play a game that takes no skill. (But not WoW.)
  5. Hang out with friends.

Really, it's just about chilling out and trying not to stress out too much I spose : ) A lot of my issues I find, I just need to put into context, which may mean putting it off til later, but I can justify doing that because I know at my current age and mentality, I'm not ready nor do I need to deal with whatever issue it may be.
Also as others have said, there are probably people in worse conditions or worse condition you could be in. You just gotta focus on the positive and make small little goals for yourself, cliche, but you know, it does work eventually.

Sometimes it does help to tell people and sometimes it helps just to cry or hit something (not someone!) and then after that do something you like n__n I had a horrible night at work (waitressing @_@) and towards the end of shift I just broke down and bawled my eyes out.
After I recomposed myself, had a beer with my co-workers, I was pretty happy : D

Otherwise I find photography always relaxes me, no matter what I'm doing n_n Maybe it's cause I'm looking through the viewfinder and making the world a more beautiful place my own way, who knows :B

I've always had the mentality that life is great, existence is great. Whatever problems I have, I am still alive and blessed so there's no reason to fuss. I've had hard times, but you just have to look it in the face and overcome it.

I've thought this way for a while now. I cant recall what I was like before this mindset. :)

From what i've admitted yesterday, its been a journey.

I cope with my guitar, i started a band and we do what we need and hang with each other.. They are my way to cope cause if your in a bad mood, they're down to just jam the night away so you can forget for a while.

None of your business.
Heh...well, I go insane for a minute or so, then just try to encompass everything, then take it step by step. Because I have a lot of stress and stress myself out over every little thing, I always try to mentally relax for a few minutes before doing whatever I have to do. So far, I must be doing OK because I haven't killed myself yet.

Oh, and listening to music helps. Songs that will make you feel better help the most.

How I cope with things? Well, I think one of the #1 most important ways to cope with problems is to not stress about it and don't make it bigger than it is. Despite the absolute lunacy that is my head, I don't blow things out of (my) proportions. Something ****ty happened? Deal with it, don't cry about it. Think you can't deal with it? Think again. Just stay calm. I'm an extremely laid-back person, and most things don't bother me very much, if at all.

On the other hand, I do have a little world in my head. I am actually sorta dense in the way that I don't take notice of many things in the outside world. I'd rather stay in mine, I find it's usually a lot more fun.

Also, I know this one sounds like an odd one, but be a good friend! When something goes wrong in someone's life, I usually ask if they wanna talk about it or something along those lines. If they do, I listen and try to help out. When you help others out with their problems, it usually makes your problems look like a cinch. Also, there's karma to take into account. Which absolutely does exist. If you killed someone, it's gonna be **** hard to get that out of your mind and off your chest. But if you just helped someone with an issue in their lives, you generally feel a ton better than you did a bit ago.

So, yeah. In recap, stay calm, laid-back, and generally helpful. It all works for me.

And if all else fails, then think it through. Think about the problem to the point where there's nothing left to think about. If it takes ten minutes, you know you're not actually thinking about it. If you think it entirely through, then you can do something about it. And if it's one of those ever so few things you can't do anything about, you're probably over it by now.

I post on a nice forum known as smashboards. Though there is flaming, evil mods, and Ness mains that lurk the site, there are also some intelligence, and some nice members. SWF really
does help. Hanging around with your friends is also something to look forward to. In conclusion, don't play Ness.

forgive me for asking, are you in to any Shinto-Buddhist religion? for someone to react to lifes twists and turns with a calm disposition all the time, i would think that person would have to be a Monk

. . .and t.v keep my mind off of all the crap in this world.
thats kinda counter-productive for me. i turn on the tube and after watching a few shows i want to know whats going on in the world.

you just need motivation.
Thats another problem with a "down state", you dont really have much motivation to pick yourself up, but sometimes i can muster up enough

...focus on the good things in your life, even if it's something small, like a game that you can't wait for
thanx, ill try that

I cope with my guitar ... so you can forget for a while.

...So far, I must be doing OK because I haven't killed myself yet...
.
well, thats a good sign i suppose. . .:ohwell:

I try to see humor in everything :)...time heals all wounds.
heh, well i wish it'd work a bit faster sometimes

and scary mods, serious mods, mod-mods, super mods, angry mods, original mods, not-mod-mods, crimson mods, 128 mods, Pie mods, married mods, not-a-mod-anymore mods, Ex-mod-Matt mods. . .

yes SWF, look at how many people actually provided useful info (i tried to cut down on post length, so i didn't quote everything that i found helpful)

In conclusion, don't play Ness.
if they dont have a sword i dont play them

thank you everyone that had said something intelligent (yes, Uncle Kenny too) to say. This has actually helped me a lot, and again i'd like to thank you.

and i hope that others would follow my example, and instead of posting all of your problems, just ask for general help, (After comparing to other threads) you seem to get more positive feedback from SWF that way

The things that usually help me are telling someone, listening to music, or running/sports. It just helps me get my mind off it, and I get over it pretty quick.

if u think ur life is hard, and u think u cant get thru ur problems i suggest u take a vacation in the Philippines. some of the people who live there probably have some of the most hardest life styles of all. but they get thru it and live on.

they have bamboo huts for houses with no carpet, or tile floors. they have the ground dirt underneath their feet. its soo frikin hot over there. running warm water? lol forget about it, u gotta boil water if u want a warm bath. people sell stuff on the side of the street as their lifetime job, example : towels, fruits, corn, flip flops, shampoo.

when i feel im having a hard time, i think about how bad other people have it. compared to those people in third world countries, we are living the luxury life. if ur having a hardships in life, try and look on the bright side. like at least u have a house to live in

You are talking to a Cuban, i wasnt born there but i spent a summer there.

the conditions you describe are the same . . . and i didnt look at it as poverty, neither did the part of my family that was living there, it just was. . .simple living

Why weed?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXDkDo64VdQ

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0dz8K-Bz5k

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcUjbojAKrw

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPZjH8J2gd0

I wrote all these songs when I was baked. Weed allows me to focus, not on many things but more than ever before on one thing. When Im stoned I can feel the music beyond the music and hear the creativity flow in my head.

Why weed? It puts me in a good mood, or enhances the one im already in

why weed? gives me the munchies, soothes my soul, inspires my creations.

Alcahol I dont do as often as marijuana becuase I can smoke by myself and it works, being drunk alone is pretty sad, and only something I did when I was working a CRAPPY job. Alcahol for me is for party time.

Now I'm not forcing this on anyone, its my own personal experience with pot, I couldn't give less of a crap about what anyone else consumes, and anyone that smokes weed just to get with the IN crowd is a sad individual indeed.
