I know you have to mash really fast to wiggle out but, what button do you mash? jump? attack? special?

You actually don't even need to press a button. You can literally just rotate the analog stick.

You get out by rotating the sticks and or mashing the buttons. The higher your percentage, the more you gotta struggle.

You can also cancel a grab by attacking the guy the same time he tries to grab you.

I always thought flicking the stick left and right was the best way to get out of grabs because that's how you escape from metroids in smash run.

The problem with flicking the stick around is it can mess up your DI if they are just waiting a bit to throw you.

The best way to escape grabs it to evade the grab in the first place. That comes off as facetious, but it really is the best option if it's possible: prevention is better than cure, after all.

Otherwise, you want to be careful with it. Rotating or flicking the control stick back and forth will help you escape, but as somebody mentioned, you need to be wary: a good opponent can pummel instead of throw, fully expecting you to break out in the hopes that you will inadvertently mess up your DI and get punished for it.

An alternative followup is to pummel repeatedly until your opponent breaks free, then answer with an f-smash at high percents. This only really works if you DI away from the opponent, so chances are the opponent will just get to use this trick once before you catch on, but it's good practice to bear it in mind.

In answer to the question: flick the control stick back and forth repeatedly. Just remember that you need to be careful of how you break free and if the opponent expects you to do it.

In most cases, your opponent will throw you before you even have a chance to break free from his/her grab.
