I can't find information anywhere on how to do the Marth killer. I know it has something to do with using the soft shield near the ledge while he's recovering but I don't really understand it. Could anyone here please try to explain it? Sorry if this information is somewhere that I missed.

First you roll to the ledge, in the middle of the roll hold z for the light shield, and angle the joystick towards the edge (down and left or down and right). After marth hits you just release everything and you'll automatically grab the ledge before marth.

Most characters (or maybe all?) can do it, you just have to fast fall after marth hits your shield if you're not using fox, falco or falcon. Hope this helped!

Wow sounds hard. Thanks for the help. Glad people are still paying attention to the Melee boards.

If you don't let go then you will fall down past the ledge, because first you must angle the shield towards the ledge.

fox can light shield shine marth's recovery a lot if he doesnt sweetspot. i rarely use it though.

to edguard marth, i usually ledgehop shine->bair, usually covers all options well.

Fox can hog Marth's recovery with regular shield too..as long as you DI towards the ledge and stay in the shield.

Lightshield is necessary so marth CANNOT possibly sweetspot against it. all he can hope to do is upb early before you lightshield.

ive seen this very rarely, so i assume its not very popular due to difficulty. However, I personally have no idea how to do it. could you elaborate?

its not difficult.

all it takes is DI towards the ledge and having ANY shield up (light or not with fox).

You can also do the same procedure except you face the ledge foward and when marth tries to upb b, you get pushed off the ledge immediately, where you get a free shinespike.
