How do you do that drop-waveland thing that a lot of people do?

I always see people dropping off a platform then wavelanding back onto it to feint, bait, and stuff. But when I try to do it, it just ends up being really slow compared to how everyone else does it. Am I doing something wrong or am I not doing it fast enough?

I thought you just have to tilt the control stick to drop, then jump and waveland.

There are different kinds of platform fall through, most notably shield(shai)-dropping, and the (now deprecated) ISAI-drop which let you fall through platforms faster than the traditional way.

Past that, you are correct about it just being a jump and waveland.

Do you mean shield-drop?

In any case, yes it is just about doing it quicker. If you mean shield drop: Press jump immediately after your character falls, and press L/R ~1 frame later to waveland. It should be faster than WD out of shield.
