Hello, for those who don't know me I'm MXXD, but that's beside the point. I'm here to talk about venues. About 4 months ago I set out to find a venue for some monthlies, or smashfests. I've contacted multiple venues via email, only one replied with a no. I kept emailing the possible venues, but still no response. I was without a venue. I've finally found the perfect venue for an event. I don't wanna screw this one up, so please... Any advice on how to obtain a venue?

tl dnr version: I've found a venue I don't want to lose, advice?

"Hi, I run SSBB (say the name) tournaments. Typically they'll rake in <number of people>, and your <type of venue> can benefit from them."

Basically give them a briefing on how you'd run it, how they'd make a profit (venue fee, or percentage taken from the pots), etc etc

Well, thanks. I'm sure if I walk in there with confidence I can pull it off. A mod can close this thread if they would like, unless more people have advice.

I mean it's really not that hard-

Just say you run video game tournaments and give them an estimate of whats in it for them. People are selfish- thats how you get their attention. If they think what you have to offer is worth while, they'll let you do it. Just dont bargain too much with them- because they will continuously push the line on you if you do it once.

Approach a venue with Nair.

Btw if you ever find a venue and hold a smashfest, would you ever let people play brawl and melee? :3 I'd play both. (in philly btw)

Good luck.

If it's just some thing where you're looking to either not pay them or give them a cut out of the pot, focus on how it benefits them

if you're paying a rental rate, who cares? just book it. $$$ talks
