how do u mortar slide/snakedash?

hi I am a snake mainer who really want to learn how to mortar slide/snakedash cuz i have seen so Many people use it. I use the gamecube controller btw

This is how I do it; start a dash attack using the C-stick and the joy stick, as soon as the dash attack animation starts rotate the joy stick from the side to up and press Z. Hope this helps.
