Hey y’all I just started playing Rosalina and I love her but my only problem is that I’m really bad at recovering especially backwards, I always end up killing myself. Is there a way to control it?
If you need to recover 100% vertically, hold back (so left if you're facing right) on the control stick immediately after she starts the brief wind up animation for the move. This gives you the maximum height possible but no horizontal coverage.
Other than that, holding up gets you a slight diagonal angle, and holding diagonally up or left will launch you in that direction at a roughly 45 degree angle. All during the wind-up animation of course. B-reversals aren't involved.
If she's going the wrong way, just keep practicing until you get the hang of it. It's a little tricky but it works. If you're playing online, it's also possible the game is just lagging and dropping your inputs especially when trying to do the vertical one, which isn't your fault and is unavoidable. Happened to me all of time on Smash Wii U/3DS online and still happens on occasion in this game. Had a moment last night in particular where the game locked up for a split second during an online match right as I pressed the inputs to recover and she just straight up did nothing and SD'd.
