I know it should be possible. Since you can play games like BB and B+ without hacking your wii, but using your SD card, I'm assuming it can be done with vBrawl. I've been asking around, but I haven't found a definite answer. So how does one do it? If there's already a post or thread that talks about using an SD card to play a hacked vbrawl without hacking the wii, a link to that would be appreciated.

Im pretty sure ALL brawl hacks including B+ B- && BB use the homebrew channel & Gecko os/Riivolution, which is hacking the wii. AFTER you've installed the HBC & Gecko/Rii, then u use the hacks on the SD card.

Dude, I have a copy of BB on an SD card which I've played without a hacked wii. I know it's possible...

The program that is run is called Smash Stack. Look it up on Wiibrew and how to operate it.

You can load Riivolution through Smash Stack without installing it to your Wii.

you know, I'm still very lost. I managed to get homebrew on my wii via stack smash and downloaded the necessary stuff from that screen (only the channel and the boot files. dvdr files did not show.) and yet the whole thing is being trippy. I am so lost and I don't understand why nobody has made a file set to hack vBrawl like you can with BB and B+ without having to put all this crap on your wii, because it would have saved me two hours trying in vain tho figure this stuff out >__>
thanks for the help, but I'm going to find someone to do this for me irl, because between the text, I cant tell where I'm screwing up

Um, crap? Why wouldn't you want emulators, cheat codes, and more? Seriously, there's virtually zero chance of a brick; StackSmash is as dangerous as the Homebrew Channel. I don't know why you don't want to. You even can use most brew even if you updated to 4.3. Just hack your Wii and enjoy brew.

I don't quite get what you are saying

He is saying that using the Homebrew channel is the same as using Smash Stack. Using SS is already "hacking" your Wii; the HBC is merely an automated process to do what you do manually with SS each time. One is not different than the other.

As for your actual question, it should be asked in the tutorials and help forum, not here.

HBC installs stuff to your Wii. Smash Stack, in itself, doesn't.

That is a difference.
