how do I beat level nines

whenever im playing smash by myself i seem to get completely killed by c.p.u. s at level nine i don't find playing them even makes me better and i might be starting to develop bad habits based on the cpus movement and such i dont consider myself bad at all really but i cant seem to win wich is bugging me and making me question my decision making in games if anyone can help i would appreciate it

Level 9s don't play the meta like players do and don't really prepare you for competitive play. Try using level 5s to practice comboing and such; that's much more useful.

To be fair, the OP is asking "Why do I lose to level 9s" and not "How do I beat level 9s".

First things first, don't listen to this asshole.

My advice is not to worry about the ability to play against CPU's at all. Playing against a CPU is not at all like playing against a person, and as such shouldn't be used to evaluate skill.

Furthermore, playing against the level 9's will give you bad habits that you wouldn't get by playing people. Simply put, they have inhuman reaction speeds; if you input an action, they'll be doing a counter action on the quickest possible frame.

I advise playing against level 3's. You can work on basic execution against them. Anything beyond that involves the mental side of the game, which you absolutely need to be playing another person to improve at.

Practicing against lvl 3's for their DI. 9's get you in really bad habits (like only Dair approaching with Falco). Also, 3's don't have frame-perfect unrealistic stuff that you would find with a 9.

I once tried fighting a level 9 after playing competitively for a year. It was difficult

Fighting CPUs is weirdly different from fighting humans

Level 9 CPUs are artificially good. They always get perfect powershields, etc. They also can't react to your actions meaning mindgames won't do anything.

its natural the cpu players in melee at level 9 are relentless and can actually grab a sprinting fox the reflexes of level 9 cpus are literally perfect i have had a donkey kong cpu clobber me whle using fox tricks like dash dancing and cirle jimping but the cpu grabbed me and threw me dont feel bad about ir just know that melee has extremely powerful cpu characters
