How come nobody missles cancels or uses this little two move thing

Uair, and homing missle in the direction your opponent is falling.

Because homing missiles are pathetic damage and I only use them as a means to approach/distract. I missile cancel a lot, but I don't use them to damage.

I honestly use missle cancling alot, especially s.missles. When you learn the timing you can get a canceled s.missle to come out at the same lvl as a grounded one which is really what you want since otherwise you'll shoot over many character's heads. The s.missles help to actually cause damage or pressure your opponent's shield forcing them to approach you or giving you an opening to attack. If they choose to start an approach using h.missles (double missle or sh) hinder it quite effectively, either forcing them to fall out of range or continue on... right into the range of your zair.

Samus has 3 moves which can effectively be canceled and a good player will use them all to punish or force an approach.
