Smash 3DS How are the unlocks prioritized?

I know that if you beat classic mode once with any character, you'll unlock Falco.

What if the first time I beat classic mode, I do it with Bowser on 7 intensity? Would I unlock Falco or Bowser Jr? Jr's the one I want to get first so I just wanted to see. Otherwise I'd want the Robin trophy first if it makes no difference and results in Falco.

If its like 64 I think you'll unlock falco since in 64 you always unlock jigglypuff.

I think you'd unlock Bowser Jr. But even if you didn't, it's like 10-15 minutes per run. Maybe even less.

This has always varied per smash game (like in Melee, Jigglypuff was really low priority and you could hypothetically unlock almost the entire cast without seeing her if you had a good strategy), but you can only unlock one character per classic run.

Also, the conditions per character unlocks are still very poorly documented. The match totals are reliable, but the classic methods are definitely not beyond the fact that you get everyone from classic one way or another other than Wario and R.O.B. (and no one seems to know R.O.B.'s second unlock method!). I'm really hoping we have a very clear set of character unlock requirements in the next week; there are going to be a lot of early tournaments, and it would help us all immensely if we could unlock all of the characters and stages ASAP for those events.

From what I've seen in streams, Falco has lower priority than character specific unlocks (I've seen Dr. Mario and Gannon go first.)

In Brawl, if you beat Classic mode you got Marth. If you beat it on Hard with Link, though, you unlocked Ganondorf.

The first thing I did in Brawl was beat it with Link on hard- lo & behold, Ganon was the one who challenged me, not Marth. If Brawl is any indicator, I believe you'll get Jr. first.

I believe Lucina is supposed to unlock with Marth on 5.0 or higher, but she appears to have lower priority of unlocking than Ness and Falco.

Okay so I didn't have enough coins to try for Jr but I did note that beating Classic the first time with Robin, I got Falco instead of Lucina (you beat it with one of the three FE characters, right?)

Jr and Dark Pit both prioritized over Ness though.

My guess is that Falco and Jigglypuff both have rather low priority, since I unlocked them almost randomly.

Also I got Ness after my very first vs match but that was after doing classic with Mario, I think every mode counts towards the match count but I may be wrong.

I think that Smash Run does. That's where I unlocked Jigglypuff and Falco.

I haven't even touched Smash Run yet, so Classic could be a factor too in terms of match count.

Not sure if this is known: If two criteria are met and one character is unlocked, you can do a single stock match and unlock the other one. That is what I did since Melee.

I know that actually, but for some reason I wasn't able to unlock Dr.Mario when I tried that once despite complete classic with Mario. I did that run on 2.0 though so guess it needs to be a certian level to face him.

I unlocked Bowser Jr. even before Wario by beating Classic 7.0 with Bowser, so I guess they get prioritized by the number of VS. matches you need to unlock them.

Same here, I was then able to play two 1v1 matches and got Ness and Falco after both.
if it's relevant, Lucina was the very first character I unlocked (the first thing I did on getting the game was play Classic on 5.0 intensity with Marth)

Unlocks are prioritize by hardest unlock first, Meaning Jigglypuff has the most priority, and Ness has the least. If you meet the unlock conditions in classic mode for multiple characters, all you have to do is play a vs match to get the unlock battle.

Also, if you play online matches it counts towards unlocks but won't trigger any battles against new characters until you go back to single player. If you played enough matches for multiple unlocks they'll be queued and waiting for you regardless of who you win/lose with in offline mode.

And yeah, as stated above me you fight them in order of hardest unlock to easiest. There might be an exception if you do a special unlock (like beating Classic on 7 with Bowser for the Jr. fight), but I've already got my unlocks so I couldn't tell you.
