House Hunting

A while ago I said I was going to be moving into somewhere soon with my girlfriend.

We're thinking of this:

Close to Runcorn train station, which means busses to both of our jobs come every 15 minutes. I'm going to keep looking, but the one I linked there seems like a really good choice for us.

Though I'm already kinda doubting it since I realised it's a bit further away from runcorn station than I thought.

I estimate our combined income to total about $900-$1000 a week, so I think the $300 p/w price range is ok.

Anyone have some advice on some of the things we should be looking for?
Traps, pitfalls?

If there's something you really like you might have to be competitive in the application process by putting forward payments in advance, e.g. 3 months as well as the usual stuff like displaying a healthy combined income salary. It usually doesn't matter, but if Brisbane's rental market is as tight as Melbourne's then it will.

If you're planning on having people over make sure you don't get a cheap shoebox in a good spot.
