I'm kind of still feeling my way around, so let me know if I'm missing something by posting this. :)

I just saw masterwumpus's video of Chu Dat, and now I want to play Ice Climbers. :p

Obviously, looking around, desynching is a big thing. Throws are a big thing.

But are there things I should look out for when playing IC's, any common n00b traps that might prevent me from being good later on?

Also, how do you know when is the best time to do what? Like when to desynch and go for a grab or something, or when to stay together. It all seems.. sorta random, you know?

Anyway, just checking.

Dont get too caught up in desynching, its great for combos and rarely you can use to pressure people and confuse them but there are usually quite a few holes for your opponent to attack you. Really whats important for ICs is the same thing for everyone else, patience good spacing and good prediction of your opponent.

Some good things to remember are your dsmash being super fast and pretty powerful, remember that it is punishable, your grabs have bad range so be very accuracte with them, they are hard to land but do IMMENSE damage even with little follow up, dthrow usmash or dthrow forward smash does LOTs of damage for a grab.

Be careful with Nana, remember that she can be a great distraction to your enemy but should you lose her you are playing a low tier character.

Thanks! When you grab someone, from what I've seen, the most common thing to do is a combination of hammer hits and blizzard. I'm not sure I understand how this works, when I try to do it, I end up throwing the character when I press down for the blizzard. So what am I doing wrong?

A advice that should work, don´t try to grab too often, if you do you´ll get punished, but that´s something that comes with experience I guess..

I agree don't try to grab to often, successfully grab very often. Seriously though you will know when its safe and when it isn't when you get better.

When you get familiar enough with the ice babies, you will know you should grab as much as possible since you'll know setups that practically guarantees them.

Just expanding on what PockyD said -

The trick to blizzarding (or throwing any other move with nana for that matter) during a grab is to give her the command while popo is occupied with another move.

So for the blizzard combo, after a grab, hit 'a' - Popo will attack (followed quickly by Nana if you are too slow with the next part). While he is attacking but before Nana attacks, tell Nana to blizzard. Once the blizzard finishes, press down to do a downthrow; while Popo is hurling your enemy into the ground, give Nana the command to smash. Rinse and repeat.
