been working on my drillshine, but sometimes i just cant get the shine to come out even though i swear i could see that i hit the L cancel. If you hold down when L cancelling do you have to wait for the crouch animation before shining? Because i can consistently L cancel and grab, but when i try to shine i hold down after the fastfall, and the shine just wont come out immmediately

There.
holding down is fine.

what is happening? is the shine not coming out at all when you press B? you might be pressing it too early. either that or the lcancel is messed up.

dont forget to take into account hitlag when you actually use it on someone...

i think i just have some sort of disability to l cancel and shine, i can l cancel and jab or grab every time, but i seem to like psyche myself out getting ready for the shine and wavedash. Ive mained sheik for a while, and down B is not my most used button combination.

I have trouble getting drillshine to work too, no matter how many times I try the opponent can break free before the shine.

You're probably trying to shine too early. L cancelling reduces the lag from the drillkick, but it doesn't eliminate it completely. So if you shine too soon, nothing happens. On the other hand, if you wait to see the crouching animation, you're shining too late. You just have to get a feel for when the crouching animation should start. That's when you should shine.

A good way to time your shines is to do it when you see Fox begin to slightly torque his body after the L-cancel.

lol, i forgot i made this thread. back when i had no tech skill

what i actually do is just let the stick go back to neutral after the cancel, then press down b, so i am timing it indepent from the drill, and if i want i can easily do a jab or grab otherwise.

but no need to close the thread people could still have problems with this.

Just press L right before you hit the ground, fox's drill is probably the hardest move to consistently L-cancel cause its always a different timing depending on size of shield no shield etc.
