I am at school and won't be home until like 8 p.m. tonight.

Anyways I was messing about with the grab and release trick on Wario hitting him with Fsmashes and I figured, hey let me hit him with a Fair.

So I do it and got the odd idea that I should try it on other characters and see if that works.

SO I grabbed Mario, released him into the air and dashed after him then Faired.
The consecutive hit counter went up. I went O_o.
I tested repeatedly and every time I could Fair him perfectly with the hit counter going up each time.

So I tested the first row (it was late at night) and a few others.

Mario,PIkachu,G&W, Pikachu (goes a bit far but you can hit him) were all hit by the Fair with the counter going up.

MK got hit every time as well.
One other nice thing happened too.
I released him into the air, and dash shield grabbed him and the hit counter went up.

So I was wondering... can someone see if this can be done on another human? I have no one to test it with and I am in school and I have only managed to test it on the CPU's.

I know for sure you can't do it to characters who go farther than Pikachu or higher than mario (Marth) or floaty characters nor the fast fallers.

Just grab release then Fair.

Someone check it please?
Sorry if this was learned of earlier.

I kinda delved into this too, when I was doing air-release crap with Wario.

I probably didn't do the timing right, but it might be possible for your opponent to attack back, since Sonic's aerial accel is so low.

I did, however, pull it off on a (..crappy) Metaknight for a kill.

Air-released by edge > RAR B-air.

I'll try it out again later to see if there's a weight range or something lol

Thats probably what happened.
You have to dash immediately then go for a Fair.
For characters like DK and MK its easier because its as soon as you can jump or shield that you can catch them with the Fair.

The hit counter should be going up if you're timing it right.

Unfortunately, the hitcounter isn't ... very trustworthy.

With two controllers, I went ahead to try U-throw>spring>U-air kill combos on Peach and it said they were consecutive hits.

I tried it again, hitting A on Peach's controller at the same time I hit the C-stick and she N-aired out of it.

Also, while testing for grab-release combos, re-grab+pummel still counts as a combo even if your opponent can double jump or whatever in-between. I've drop-released some CPU, had them double jump back, regrabbed, and the counter kept going up.

;__; sorry.

no don't worry I understand about the hitcounter. The main reason I brought it up was mainly because of the situation that was presented.

As I said I am unsure about it so I need someone to test it with another person offline.

The hit counter is just another addition made to make the game more noob friendly. That way, noobs can be like ZOMGOSH 20 HIT COMBO I AM 2 GUD.
