okay, sorry if everyone already knows this, because i sure didn't.

anyways, apparently, if you press teh control stick diagonally, you can direct which way the down b jumps regardless of which way you are facing

Both the jump and the attack are directional, actually.
this

You can change the direction of the attack once you're midair in the same exact way as changing the jump direction, so with that, you can actually jump and do the attack in front of you instead of behind

Makes the attack portion far more useful with the ability to change directions.

This needs some more testing, but it seems (key word being "seems") that if you downB in a spot where you'd land on a drop-thru platform, you instead fall through with downB

so for example, Battlefield, Delfino, Yoshi's Island

Again, this may be specific to just 1-2 of those stages, or just happen due to the height of the ledges being just over her jump height or something, but it's something I think is worth pointing out to try some more. If it does work like it seems to from my minimal and mostly accidental use, you can attack someone standing under the ledges in a rather unique and unexpected way with this.

Another possibility: if you apply some pressure by jumping out to meet a recovering opponent, forcing them to use an upB or jump early, typically a downB back toward the stage will land you right on top of their head and able to hit.

And I've gotten in the habit of using the downB as an escape move fairly often too, due to the invincibility frames built into it. Occasionally this can line you up for a hit against more aggressive opponents.

I do this as well, its a very good tactic, but be wary vs certain characters/players.

Example, Marth dash attacks you, you foward+b over his head, and miss the forward+b attack, depending on the timing of your jump in relation to his attack, there is sometimes enough time for his dash to end, and him to do a quick BAir before you can react.

A good way to prevent a scenario like that, is mashing your forward b towards his direction, if you can get that out in the fastest possible frame after your up b, sometimes its enough to space them a bit and end their chase.

Again, this is all situational, but keep on eye out for those players that can punish for a simple, floaty, over b.
