I haven't posted on any forums since 2008, but a quick look into the Smash Boards convinced me to make an account and fully join the community.
Short backstory: I started really getting into fighting games with DBFZ and now that I had to sell my arcade sticks due to financial trouble, I recently got into Smash Ultimate and am thinking of getting good to the point where I can at least consistently win locals. I played Brawl before and a little bit of Melee. I mostly played Brawl, so it's taking me a while to adjust from constant rolling and air dodging, but I'm well on my way thanks to the awesome tips from this community!
For Smash Ultimate, I try to get in 2-3 solid hours of focused practice every day to rapidly improve my game and start consistently beating my friends, then moving on to locals. I'm currently setting small goals for myself, like stomping out my friends' annoying King DDD and Belmonts. He loves projectile characters and I'm not good enough yet to anticipate them and maneuver around them, so I picked up Palutena, since she's a well-rounded character with good aerials, zoning and a reflect built-in to a counter. Inkling is my main against any character that either has weak or no projectiles. I just love their combo game and the rage-inducing roller setups.
I'm also a musician and am heavily invested in two different bands. One of them, Growing Pains, is a grunge band closely resembling Nirvana but also inspired by elements coming from lesser known alt-rock bands like Hum and Failure (the latter is a bit more known to be fair). The other band is called SUDD and focuses more on ambient, old-western sounding music. It's a bit more abstract, but if anybody knows Mazzy Star, that's a good point of reference.
I look forward to partaking in constructive discussions, gathering knowledge from the more experienced players on these forums and hopefully being able to contribute some of my own knowledge after a few months of solid practice.
Cheers!
