heya guys

had an idea for a tournament biweekly a while ago, wanted to know if anyone would be interested. i have a venue on hold that might wanna do it.

basically they'd be friday or saturday biweeklies dedicated to what are normally side events: brawl+ and low tier singles and doubles would alternate every two weeks.

the only thing that would stay constant are crew battles. with teams that would either be drafted or established, there'd be a 4v4 crew battle at each event with a normal bracket.

each event would only cost $5 roughly, maybe $10 for crews, making it a maximum of $30 total for venue, singles, doubles and crews.

would anybody be interested?

I'm guessing the [usual] side events are the main events, and vice versa.

Low tiers. ^_^

Crews ^___^

Where is the venue? ...

Wait, no regular singles or doubles?
nope.

it's an experimental thing. that's why i want to ask if people would actually go for it. crews take the place of singles and doubles, while low tier singles and doubles remain a side-event.

venue is in millersville, i think. near glen burnie!

so i have interest for friday night side-events, but that still makes crews impossible since probably not everyone would want to drive that far, especially not on a friday.

that gives me a good point of reference, but if i were intending to hold crew battles with several side events on the same day on a saturday, would anyone be interested? or would it be limited to biweekly side events on fridays?

there'd be low tier or brawl+ doubles, depending on which weekend it is

i know you prolly wouldn't do brawl+ dubz, but you really wouldn't be interested in low tier doubles, mr. yoshi?

I like the Plus idea (it'd have to be a Saturday for me to attend though), but other than that I probably wouldn't make that much of an effort to come seeing as I'm not in a crew. Draft crews on the other hand would persuade me to attend :p

you wont have a good tourny if its dedicated to side events. think about profit. think ChuDat style cept with time constraints.

you'll have the biggest turnouts if its brawl singles and doubles. if u can fit in more events than melee singles and doubles would attract all the brawl haters but... eventually a few brawl players would probably enter melee and a few melee heads like thumbs or even plank may enter brawl.

but yea, if u got a venue think big, numbers, and profit. what does the general majority want so u can get the max attendance is what u should be asking

If its only plus attentance won't get more than like 15 people if the rest of md/va decide to have a regular old brawl tourney the same day. If you hold these on a Saturday that is .

If you have it on Friday then maybe you will get some more attendance.

Obviously attendance would be smaller if another tourney was held on the same day, and that's regardless of game. Like if there was one held in VA and this in MD, whoever is closer to whatever tourney is the one we're going to go to.

and how would having one Friday get more attendance than a Saturday tourney if this were to be the only thing going on that Saturday (which is what I think Coney is trying to get at).

I won't be the only tourney on Saturday if it doesn't feature Brawl singles and doubles. People will still want to go to a Brawl tourney every week regardless if there is a brawl+ tourney the same day. If it were on a Friday it would get more attendance so people won't have to decide whether or not to go to the Brawl tourney or the Brawl+ tourney when they can potentially go to both.
