Well its come time again to rethink what my next plan is to improve myself. I main kirby and i love the character. I mean i would like to think i've come a long way as a kirby main. I am going to give a little history of myself and pose my question towards the bottom of the blog.

I recently placed 25th in EC presents No maps a tournament hosted by i would like to say smash community friend inui. It ran late but otherwise it was very successful i met alot of new people as well hung out once again with the friends i've made at previous tournaments. It was also my 18th birthday on that date. I would say it was a fun birthday its what i like to do on my saturdays and thats all i really wanted.

i was talking to this kid he seemed fairly good i met him at a PA tournament like 3 weeks before so it was nice to see him again. I was talking about current brawl metagame and strats as he himself was trying to improve himself as a player. I was just sharing with him what i have learned from pros and experts back a couple of months ago when i was in that stage of learning. Sadly enough i had to face him round 1 and i beat him. I felt bad but through every game i tried to show him while i was fighting him what i was doing with my character and how he can beat him and such.

After that i faced ksizzle, my crew member and friend. Afterwards that i stand no chance against. For those of you who don't know ksizzle is a top player of NJ widely regarded a top state as far as players goes. First match i knew my kirby stood no chance against his Metaknight and i wasn't ready for his ice climbers as i have not practiced enough in the matchup to be confident in it. I choose snake after practicing snake in sometime to be sadly 2 stocked horribly. I was shaken deeply in my foundation i couldn't think after that it took me 10 minutes to recooperate. I was wondering what do i do next i looked at my selection of stages carefully and i tried to think what would be the most logical stage choice. The crowd behind me encouraged me yelling "Kirby, Kirby, Go Kirby" I knew that if i went kirby though even trying my hardest with kirby's current flaws against a metaknight of his stature it would undoubtable end in 2 stock unless of a chance of a fluke. However he seemed like the best choice so i choose kirby and i took him to battlefield so i can kill him easier with the closer sides and roof.

At first it went well,

I took his first stock after some intense mind games with ease after he made a mistake with his moves. I felt confident at first feeling i could actually win this match. I even combo'd him 2nd stock to about 40+% while me being on my first stock at high 100's%.

Then something happened

Ksizzle adapted to my playstyle he fixed what he was doing wrong and turned the whole game around he may of not noticed what he did different but i did and there was nothing i could do. So i get 2 stocked again making me wonder what i can do to fix that.

So i go through losers bracket a little bit until i meet a falco player named KiD. At first i was a little frightened even as a kirby player i know the fears of falco. Even though everyone says i should be able to **** falcos i find the matchup rather even and apparently the kirby boards have decided to get some brains (no offense) and even put it i think 50:50.

The thing that makes it 50:50 is that even though kirby has amazing combos if a falco camps due to kirby's horrible approach makes falco close to untouchable and i realized this.

So i start the match and hes camping HARD. Hes also very picky with his attacks but once again i get out played simple as that, no johns.

So he 2-0's me

So i'm out of the tournament i'm a little disappointed because i let my partner seph down in teams and we got 9th place because i fail at counterpick banning. I also let myself down as trying to prove myself as a better player.

I didn't let this get to me though i tried to view this as a learning experience and think logically about it. So as i took a break and tried to think i sat down and noticed my good friend Atomsk was fighting KiD next as he himself was in loser's bracket. Atomsk is powerranked 2nd in New Jersey and regarded widely as a national tournament threat. So to cheer my buddy on i sat and i watched and gave him some well deserved support because i knew it would be a hard fight for him. He picked DeDeDe first round and after a really close fight he barely lost due to CG -> Double Spike off the stage. I was absolutely stunned at how insanely skilled KiD was (no meatriding). I truly feared for atomsk winning the set because it seemed the sheenigans that worked against me worked against atomsk as well then he did something unexpected.

He picked kirby, Atomsk picked kirby against him so i've never seen atomsk's kirby and every other kirby i've seen so far seemed like crap except the one time i met Chu Dat in MD/VA. So i watched and atomsk 2 stocked him NO REDEMPTION it was absolutely beautiful how he did it and i was wondering maybe after all this time its because i didn't know the matchup? thats why i had such a hard time with falco.

Either way i used his playstyle to add on to mine and currently i am learning snake matchups and my wario is actually legit even though i quit him. My wario even can bring m2k down to last stock in friendilies :D not using that to base skill or anything but i would like to think i have a pretty legit wario but i must build on that.

Pierce7d even told me that my snake is legit i just need to build off that and learn seperate matchups. I noticed that for every character i pick up i must manually learn the matchups again -_- its quite tiresome but still fun ;D.

So i am going to be maining Kirby, with my secondary being snake and wario for the tougher matchups for kirby. I wonder is that a good idea? I need to improve myself and i figured this would be the best way to get my thoughts in order.

Lies. I'm flagging this post for child nudity.
I recently placed 25th in EC presents No maps a tournament hosted by i would like to say smash community friend inui. I like this part. My birthday this year, I spent over at a smashfest at a friends' house, and even though I obviously didn't win all the matches (which is what everyone wants apart from having fun), I had fun having a non-traditional birthday.

i was talking to this kid he seemed fairly good i met him at a PA tournament like 3 weeks before so it was nice to see him again. I was talking about current brawl metagame and strats as he himself was trying to improve himself as a player. I was just sharing with him what i have learned from pros and experts back a couple of months ago when i was in that stage of learning. Sadly enough i had to face him round 1 and i beat him. I feel your pain... Whenever I try to help a newbie out and I end up in the same bracket as him, I end up 3stocking them twice (i have this thing with punishing mistakes, and theirs is just all over the place), then spending the rest of the day with them helping them improve their game. It makes me feel guilty to a degree...

And friends who've been playing as long as me, whenever they notice we're playing over 20 matches and they still haven't beaten me, they get severely demotivated, and I sacrifice my pride to stop matches in-between and teach them a thing or two they weren't doing before.

i find the matchup rather even and apparently the kirby boards have decided to get some brains (no offense) and even put it i think 50:50.
I am offended... Well, not really, but you just insulted and said "no offense", which practically has no meaning... It's like saying "You're so dumb, get over your stupidity! No offense".

And the Kirby:Falco MU IS in Kirby's advantage to me, no matter what everyone else says. Until I get to play a Falco top player and they **** me or we go 50/50, I won't be able to get that mindset away from me. I am THAT sure Kirby can put Falco in worse positions than Falco can put Kirby in.

The thing that makes it 50:50 is that even though kirby has amazing combos if a falco camps due to kirby's horrible approach makes falco close to untouchable and i realized this.
Noooooo! Why do people keep saying this! You guys must be used to camping by now thanks to all the Falcos and TLs everywhere in USA. They may be able to hinder our approach, but the ability to *read* your opponent's moves, especially with a moveset like Kirby's, is good enough for us to bypass it with proper caution. If you're spacing your bairs and aircamping diagonal to his position faking you're gonna land while he fires lasers, you're bound to either:

1) Get him to jump and laser again, thinking that you'll land
2) Get him to shield, thinking that you're gonna attack and setting up for a shieldgrab
3) Phantasm away, thinking that it's too risky being too close
4) Attack, thinking that you're gonna aircamp away/land while dodging.

Now, what to do in these situations depends on how you see him reacting to the air-camping. Since your answer to 3/4 of the options is to bair (with the exception of the shield), you're assured a 75% chance of success at approaching and hitting him. Then once he's landing, it's a battle of predicting what he'll do next, which will probably be back to camping, resetting these options. And remember: bair ALWAYS breaks his phantasm, so try and bait a phantasm out of him while approaching, and space with aircamped bairs to avoid him getting a free non-projectile hit (both getting hit is a better idea).

In MU discussions mindgames aren't part of how one character moveset can beat the other's, or how one character's properties can lead the other to a disadvantage. I think the Falco boards actually did a better job at rediscussing the MU than the Kirby boards, seeing as they put up 65:35 Kirby's.

I wonder if he has any recent Kirby vids... I wanna see how he plays with Kirby, all I've seen are MK and DDD.

Either way i used his playstyle to add on to mine and currently i am learning snake matchups and my wario is actually legit even though i quit him. My wario even can bring m2k down to last stock in friendilies :D not using that to base skill or anything but i would like to think i have a pretty legit wario but i must build on that.
I'm not putting you down or anything, I'm sure by now that you're a legit player, but... There's a huge difference between able to lower your opponent to 1 stock, and beating them 50/50.

So i am going to be maining Kirby, with my secondary being snake and wario for the tougher matchups for kirby. I wonder is that a good idea? I need to improve myself and i figured this would be the best way to get my thoughts in order.
I don't mean any disrespect in my reply to your blog, seriously. I tried to reply with the nicest tone I could type. I appreciate you still maining Kirby even while having bad experiences with him. :)
