Me and a few buds are heading to a tourney coming up and on the account that I'm the one with the video capturing device and the forum account, I've taken it upon myself to post some videos in an attempt to get some advice for my friend. I'm the one playing lucario. Most of these are somewhat older saved replays before I got my capture device and because of that they only are 2 stock matches (under 3 mins) but it should give a general basis of his play style. Thanks in advance.

I'll try to help as much as I can...

His maneuverability with Snake seems rather slow. I would suggest going to training mode and get a feel for moving back and forth to attack. Left and right. It seems as if he was pretty idle whenever you went behind him. Tell your friend to just relax when he moves the joystick. He needs to be a little cautious with his attacks.

A lot of those front tilts seemed a bit unnecessary. Whenever he was near you, he would use it as fast as he could. I would space them out more so that the opponent won't just side step dodge and punish. I usually use a jab with the A button and THEN do the front tilts. It's a bit more effective and it breaks the shield a bit more. He should be wary that the opponent can grab right through if he doesn't do the jab to front tilts sequence. Your friend should get used to the timings on whether he can attack in sequences or not.

Your friend should practice using the front air. It didn't seem to work most of the time. What I do that keeps me safe from punishment is, jump -> press left or right on the C-Stick depending on which way I'm facing -> as you press on the C-Stick, move away from the opponent so you can have time to shield and roll out of the way.

The neutral air is an awesome move. Your friend should get used to the timing of that move also. I suggest pressing the jump button and then A when in close quarters. It can get the person trapped in the neutral air if they stand. If the opponent is coming onto the edge, jump once and then press jump and A. After doing so, fast fall so you can auto-cancel it out and move if you missed the opponent. An unsafe way of using it is, when you are facing away from the opponent, jump and press A simultaneously. While doing this, move yourself backwards. It could get the opponent stuck if they aren't ready. (I got a MK doing this not too long ago :) .)

Even for his scarce amount of grenades, the way he planted them was smart. It seemed to work against you Kasai. :p He should come check out this thread --- http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=165922 Your friend looks like he can be really good with those grenades if he practices different sequences.

Instead of trying to get opponents with the front tilt, he should use a grab when an opponent is close. It's the most safest thing to do when someone closes up on Snake. To have a better movement while grabbing, your friend should learn to press left or right (Whatever the opposite way is.) and then grab. It should be almost simultaneous. Just left the movement go before the grab. This should be kept in mind while doing every attack, not just the grab.

He definitely needs to place more C4 and mines. I didn't see one! If he needs help on specific areas on where to plant these. You can just ask me. I have a general idea on where to place C4 and mines on certain levels.

Oh, and for approaching!...he should just jab once (using the A button) and then back off. It'll probably work better than just mindlessly using front tilts.

I'm pretty sure there's more I can tell you. But, I must be off!

Good luck!

Well thank you for the help, there are a few things I have trouble with A is grabbing my friend tends no to be caught when I attempt to make a grab for him so I usually don't even try. Any hints on how to catch him when he rolls past? Second is my Nair I use it quite often just not in those videos, I don't think it's great for moving too much because if the whole attack doesn't go off you don't have any knock back and are easily punishable for the landing lag. For C-4 and mines I could use help since my friend who if he sees me plant usually avoids that area very well and keeps trying for knock back on me into such areas. Also jabbing at the start of a combo leads to a shielding which keeps any attack off or a perfect shield which gets me punished. Any way to counter act such actions? Anyways ill try using your advice and post more videos thanks a bunch for all the help. Keep it coming.

If you need help on explosive placements, I can play you online if you would like. I'll just place where I think it's best. The place I'm unsure on where to place stuff is Battlefield. So your guess there is as good as mine.

To get away from getting punished for jabbing with A...I think the best thing to do is side step dodge. Or, I guess you can walk away just a little bit and turn around so that you can't be grabbed. It also leaves room for you to attack again to punish them for trying to grab you.

As for grabbing someone as they roll away...What I do is, run past the opponent and press the joystick towards them while pressing grab. If you run and do a turn around while grabbing, you'll stop running completely and grab in the opposite direction. It takes a bit of practice to get used to.
