Helpful control scheme for buffering

Hey guys this isn't much, but it seems like getting buffering down is pretty hard for some people. For me I couldn't do it simply because my hands had to be all over the place to get anything useful out of it. I've found that it works much, MUCH easier if you set 'Z' to jump. (If you use Z to grab I set mine to Y, which works better anyway)

For buffering you need to fastfall, tap shield, Cstick, and jump in a very short time. With Z jump you can fastfall with your left thumb, then airdodge with L, initiate the jump with Z while keeping your right thumb on the Cstick for quick moves.

It looks like this: Fastfall -> L -> Z -> Cstick

Don't know if this will help you guys, but it was the make or break point for me. I couldn't get it down, set my controls like this and had perfected all the good stuff within 5 minutes :)

Waitaminute... how come you need to jump after Fast Fall Airdodging?

I typically buffer after a ground move after a SH by: Fastfall -> Air Dodge -> (A for Jab, A while NOT LETTING GO OF SHIELD for grab, or Cstick for smash)

Am I doing it wrong, or were you talking about something else entirely? =P

I tried for a minute with someone else's Wii and it was kind of hard at first. I'm not sure I get it.

It's the same idea but king is talking about something specific. The "L canceling" idea boss brought up, which consisted of short hopping an aerial, fast falling it, and buffering another short hopped aerial while you're FFAD'ing. The effect is a very quick succession of short hopped aerials you can use as a neutral state. This allows you to keep a hitbox active while deciding how to actually engage the opponent. Also it allows you to juggle characters that you've trapped on a platform more effectively.

I use L for jump for this exact purpose. I've always used R for shielding, so it works very well for me. You do need to either remove or shorten your springs to make this completely effective however. I started with them removed, but that made my short hopping too inconsistent for my liking (I'd full hop like 1/5th of the time.) A 3/4 length spring made this much easier (basically turns it into a regular button. 1/2 is basically like having no spring at all).

It has all the uses buffering does, just an easier way to get in the habit of buffering. Makes things quick
