I was wondering how to appropriately space the full jump fair > dj> dair spike (ken combo). I always seem to miss the tip, mostly by being above him but my sword just not reaching, but occasionally also being too low above him and the dair sending him straight up instead.. Sometimes the fair sends him forward out of my reach as well. also, what are some good lead-ins to said fair>dair? i watched some videos, and there are so many variations.

Well in order for the ken combo to work for the most part. The fair must be tipped so your opp. is sent above you, now u can be missing because of your opp's DI because nowadays players now how to DI out of it since its bein used so many times. Lead ins for a ken combo.
I would say just keep watching the vids. For me since i dont like ken combing really high in the air i just get my opp to the edge and fair as if i was going to dbl fair then spike, works quite well. The most common lead in is probably fairing your opp from across or center of the stage. Hope that helps.

If you don't tip the fair you'll have to fast fall below their level so that when you jump you won't miss the spike. They also have less stun when you don't tip them so they might hit you out of your jump. It's a lot easier it you tip the fair because it has more stun and gives you more time to react to their DI. F throwing them off the stage is a nice setup because they'll be DIing towards the stage and be in range of your fair.

I disagree with that statement. Good marths will always DI away from the stage when fthrow'd off the stage. I know when I play against marths I always DI away. 9 times out of 10 I will DI away just by instinct. So that isn't a very reliable statement; once in a while it may work but not a lot.

Anyways, everyone said what needed to be say. The best way to set up for the ken combo is hitting at the tip of the fair. Then jump and space the dair so it hits the opponent at the tip of the dair.

Hilaxial, this is a fairly advanced technique. It takes a lot of time and practice, but basically you need to get the tip of the fairs, then jump and dair immediately. You can also mix it up a bit: if the opponent is floaty and at a mid-high percentage, a dash attack to jump to jump to dair works sometimes. If your opponent can't DI, getting these dair combos becomes much easier. If they DI away, then they are lower and easier to edge guard. Basically, just having this move as an option if your opponent does not DI away makes you much more dangerous and cuts off your opponent's options, making him insecure and more vulnerable to sudden death. These dair combos are the kind of things that can turn a match (along with tippers!). I love marth :)
