I'm new here, as you can tell.

I've mastered the contact mortarslide, but the no-contact eludes me!
I just can't get the timing down!

Someone please help!

I know how to do the no-contact, but again, the timing is ****ing hard before you've mastered it.

It's a matter of practice. I usually do Dash animation frame to Cstick down, to Cstick up... Or 'strong forward' +A to quarter circle up + Z.

I find dash cstick down to up Z to be the easiest most reliable way(on a GC controller at least), it's mostly a matter of practice, just do it a lot and you should be able to do it consistently. like a lot of things you can try doing it a little slowly(i.e. from a run rather than stand still) and increase the speed(doing it instantly from standing) over time

edit: also LISTEN</navi>, it's easy to make sure your timing is correct by paying attention to the clicking of the controller

I use a classic, and thanks for the helpful advice!

Edit:Oh, I've been using the grab button *slaps head*

on the classic controller IIRC you can do it really easily by moving the right stick down half way and then all the way up, although the right stick down to left stick up Z should work too

I'll be away from my wii, but I'm hoping my cousin brings his wii to Thanksgiving. I'll be able (I hope) to try there. If I "sound" awkward, please tell me, because I'm really not used to this style of "chat".

Do you need to push Z?

One, earlier in the post I had obviously said I used a classic, two, only idiots use tap jump, and three, you obviously restated what the above poster said in a more noobish way then I could have possibly said it.

*shakes hand*

Congrats for taking my place as regional noob!
:chuckle:

(Sorry, the urge to get out of noobship urges me on!)

Edit: Smash "Bawls" is a shame bringer to all brawlers.
Whoa whoa whoa. The hell?

I come here to offer some advice and you end up flaming me?

I said IF you use one. IFIFIFIFIF, meaning if you see one on the side of the road pick it up and go "ohey, I should use this" Then TRY that.

And lol at tap jump off, MANY people have tap jump on. Most Snakes happen to prefer it off, but some leave it on to save time from creating a name then fixing the controls.

Also setting grab to R makes the timing a little easier for the mortar slide due to the button taking a slight bit longer to tap. So I wasn't just "restating what an above poster said."

ALSO, don't let my postcount fool you. I'm quite sure I'm not the 'noob' here, since I'm the one who can mortarslide in the first place.
