things that I need help with

1. Shdl- does this just come by practice cause this one seems like I have to move my fingers way to fast

2. Ledge teching- I get the general idea press r/l wihin 20 frames of being hit. I have been using the remote mine for this one. I just want a better explanation of this.

3. JC Shine- how am I supposed to move my fingers that fast?!?!

SHDL: get your fingers sweaty by continuously sliding Y>B>B. Same thing for JC shines. It will soon become natural.

Not sure about ledgeteching. I thought you have to press L/R 20 frames before you hit a techable surface.

I don't use up to jump when I use SHDL. I can't even SH consistently with the control stick lol (but I can still shdl consistently). Just do whatever is most comfortable for you.
If you're gonna learn it that is. Did I mention that SHDL is 100% useless in almost all matchups? (b/c the first laser won't hit, even with frame perfect timing. Unless they're standing still, but they won't be standing still.)
And even in the few matchups that the first laser will hit the advantage of doing SHDL instead of SHL is very small. You're going to be racking up a few more percents in a shorter amount of time (if you have frame perfect timing), but the main point of the laser is baiting anyway.

Ledge teching: Press L/R just before you get hit, and as you get hit Smash DI into the stage

Ya the uses of JC Shining is pretty limited. Not as useless as SHDL though, it's good for doing out of the shield (I do that to stop falco's pillaring my shield)... but that's pretty much it.

@ Mike Haggar: Yeah, the only character that both lasers will ALWAYS hit on, I think, is Ganon. Shai Hulud made a thread about frame data for SHDL awhile ago. You can hit Falco with both if he is standing still, but he is NEVER standing still.

That's not true. You can hit many characters in their walking animations (Marth, Ganon, Bowser, CF, DK, Link, Mewtwo, Peach, Samus, Zelda, Sheik, Roy) and several in their running animations (Ganon, Bowser, CF, DK, Link, Samus, Zelda). Plus many characters will approach you with short hops, in which case SHDL is a good option. Another use is to use SHDL to hit crouching characters like Kirby or Sheik where hitting with a SHL is very difficult.

You can rack up damage stupidly fast with SHDL if you're good at it. I mostly do retreating SHDL, you can do about 8 or 9 damage in one second while running away. It's so good.

Here is the thread I made on SHDL data.

JC shines can be useful, learn them if you have absolutely nothing else to do.

A few multishines after hitting a shield will shield poke, which gives you the option of waveshine -> u-smash against some characters, better than grabbing at high percents.

Against other spacies I multishine after a falling u-air (probably works with n-air too) -- not that it's useful (especially if they DI) -- because on the off chance you can double shine them and follow it up, :colorful:

Edit -- I SHDL with X. I don't think the button really matters.

That's what I do too XD Kill a stock and SHDL Shine repeatedly lolz

The most consistent way to do SHDL is use Y and B B. I realize that it is really hard to do at first but you'll be able to do it sooner or later, and when you do then JC Shines should be easy too

JC Shines: Depends on how many you want to do and when I want to do them. Out of shield/shine then just press Y to B with your thumb, just like if you were SHDL'ing. If you want to do the infinite then out your middle finger on Y and index finger on B and alternate.

Ledge Teching: Press L/R to tech but when they hit you you need to press your Control AND C-Stick toward the stage. That part is the most vital part, teching is just timing and is easy to do, but being in the range of the stage is what is important.
