Hi there, I don't play falco very much but my friend does. I want to wreck him and make him wish he never picked up the game with his own character (I mean that affectionately of course).

To do this I'm going to need some help and some knowledge. I can be a very technical player when I want to so tech skill is not a barrier for me.

However, I lack a lot of knowledge about falco. Here are a couple questions:

1. If I shield pressure with dair shine/nair shine, do I risk getting shield grabbed or do the shines take care of that?\

2. My friend likes to dash attack a lot (especially past my shield baiting out a shield grab from me). can I crouch cancel the dash attack and to what percent?

3. my friend likes to laser, laser grab when I'm in shield. Does the laser create enough shield stun so that I can't spot dodge or is it still possible?

4. the uptilt! my friend loves to combo me with uptilt. How should I DI that. Up and away or down and away or what?

5. tell me cheap stuff I can do in falco dittos.

Thanks

edit: also, does anyone know some facts about the forward smash. like how i can punish it if it hits my shield. it usually pushes me too far away to punish I feel. also, what is the appropriate punish if I can bait it out. the move has almost no lag time so it confuses me

1.l like to try two fast nair/dair shines to shield pressure, if my opponent's shield persists i shine-grab him
(if you land your nair/dair a lttle too far from his shield shine-grab immediately)
when your opponent shield, sometimes dash away-forwad smash works i think this si called "pibot"
:)

crouch cancel is useful
On U-tilt: It's best not to get caught in that move. Lots of Falco's like to just wait for you to approach and U-tilt. Fake an approach and get em to U-tilt, then punish them for it.

I'm pretty sure that laser grab is not a legit combo, just hold shield + C-stick down/left/right, you'll roll/dodge instantly. Rolling with C-stick means rolling at the first possible frame, so try that.

Cheap stuff: Edgeguard him, and try to catch him in his second jump. If you can trade your bair with his dair while he used his second jump, you won that trade, because now he's in a crap position (if you get him off the stage)

Laser > grab when your in shield is pressure you can avoid. Laser doesn't have enough shield stun to cause you any real problems, easiest thing to do (and very effective) is when he approaches you to grab, you can actually grab him AFTER he lasers but BEFORE he grabs you.

I can confirm Marths doing this to me.

IMO, play an intelligent Falco and switch to Fox when versing another Falco, so you don't become an autopilot Falco player in general.

I'm bias though, Falco dittos are my most hated matchup (not my hardest, that would be Marth), just because it feels like the player who presses the most buttons wins, and I don't like that type of match (I only like it in Fox dittos).
