I have no hard match ups in the game at the moment except Zamus. She is such an annoying ***** character to fight against! She can spam her suit at start and harass good enough to possibly take a stock off at start. Her sh over-b is quite annoying because you can't grab and you can't smash because the pikmin get ***** by her over-b. I am clueless what to do in this matchup. A normal Zamus is easy to ****, but when you fight someone who REALLY knows how to use her she is a *****.

Anyone, please give me suggestions. (No bad suggestions please. Simple tricks won't work against a great Zamus player I know all the basics of the matchups. I'm looking for some more advanced tactics to help keep the edge of her rhythm off-balance.)

Asob: You are filled with knowledge in these matters please lend me anything you know about this matchup.

Well I don't know much aabout I good Zamus, But you take away the suit in the begning, you stand a far better chance. I rember hearing from a fellow Olimar player in my clan, that if you shot hop in the begining you can steal all the Power suit items by grabbing them in mid air. Then throw them down at your feet, and continueuntil yu have them all, then just attempt to throw them back at her. As for over-b,
Jump. Just jump. Don't sh. Jump over her. Pivot grab and then follow up with watever.

I'm pretty much guessing with the Over-b and the Powersuit might be wrong but hey, I tried.

who me???? hahah

uhmmm i've only played a somewhat good Zamus(need to play fadedimage !!!) and i can say, she is quite a *****
spacing is the main thing. find out just how far you have to be to avoid her >b and punish that little bit of lag
and watch the **** out for WoP w/ fairs, and the dsmash > up b pillar

try to use her items against her. when you get them, throw those ****ers up and let it bounce. if you get her off the ledge and she has to recover from below, grab a piece and jump right over the ledge and tap Z to let it drop. if it hits it'll do one of two things: stage spike or knock her *** away. either way it's a stock.

pikmin toss is HUGE as it can distract her and stop her armor/stungun

that's all i got to say really, hope that helps

keep owning the EC <333

PS combo that ***** to hell and go for any gimp kill possible

Zori has a few matches against a good ZSS player

PSS one more thing
for spacing, do a retreating fair, it will auto cancel, and go to an fsmash
amazing spacing tool similar to toon links aerial > arrow cancel tech

thanks for the help. i haven't tried retreating fairs into fsmash yet. when i get her off the edge she's easy to edge guard (just like what people do to me) so edge guard isn't a problem yet. ill have to try bouncing her suit under me so i can keep it out of her reach.

no problem ^^
it's fun watching the pieces bounce and they try to grab, only to get knocked away and take damage :D

fair > fsmash is amazing, it can be offensive or defensive
one of the best spacing tools i can think of

i've never actually tried it before. Just one of those wierd things i wouldn't think of--soo simple too. As far as pivot grab goes...doesn't really work against her over-b i tried to do that a ton and it wouldn't work.

Also, any suggestions for an aggressive rob? Every time i roll away he can still d-smash me because i don't roll far enough, it's quite annoying. Not sure how large that range actually is; i underestimate it completely. i haven't lost to a rob in a tourney before but this kid is different he isn't normal rob player (aka sit back top laser etc.) he only does that **** to annoy you and then does other **** to make up for it. He also does a backwards glide toss and glide tosses away from me so i can't pivot grab. every time i pivot he reverse glide tosses (he holds onto his top like a ***** :X )

hmmm
well i play against one of the best ROB's on the WC (shadowROB) and he is very aggressive and i can tell you that it's near impossible
the best advice i could give you is try to get under him and be wary of the nair. he can't do anything if you're below him except a laggy dair and nair. they usually try to save the nair for kills so you don't have to worry as much but still be cautious
take control of the middle and counter pick with battlefield or another platform stage. it allows you to get under them
ROB is a decent weight so he can be combo'd quite well but they can usually fair out of it. try to mix things up
i need to test nair/up tilt to see if they out prioritize his fair.
up throw will kill you if at high enough damage
reds are your best friends as they survive any fire attack/laser

camping is really your best option after the initial combos
that's all i got

i usually just go gnw cause oli vs ROB = no chance
in my experience anyway, we have good ones out here (shadow, hugs)

yeah i agree with that. But on EC we have some crazy good robs, no names really, but still. ROB is an easy matchup for me but this was very unexpected. As far as combos, if i cna grab him i can get a 4-5 hit combo easy. dthrow--usmash--uair--uair--up-b works against half the cast and since rob is his weight it's a really easy one to pull off frequently. Anyways, i'll take into mind a good cp like bf maybe lylat because of short sides/ceiling.

lots of ROB xp here. Aggressive ROBs who love dsmash, especially at high percentage, offensive whistle spam. SHFF a WAC into dsmash and you have a dead rob. You can actually easily WAC in the middle of ROBs downsmash and still get your downsmash off while his is still going. ROB can be quite annoying but I let myself take more damage in this match but use this to snag some kills easier. ROB at low percent = easy combos. ROB at high percent, whistle kills :-). I just use this so that I know I'll die soon after, but I'll be able to rack up damage on his next stock to build a lead.

why didnt i look at this thread early :> First off that first video was not that good but the second one was. Here are some tips

1.fsmash cancels b laser
2.Latched pikmin stop b laser
3.Alot alot of zss love to use there down b off the ledge to get back (because it spikes you) this is when you use nair it out prioritizes it so well and it will catch them off guard.(it was done in my video)
4. She has a tether like you :p.
5.Don't get angry and frustrated and say 'why is she doing so much damage?' zss is just like you a power house on the field but off they are renderd useless, well almost :).

Hope some of that helped.

I've fought a pretty good Zamus before. Remember that your short hop game is better than hers. Most of her attacks have long, thin hitboxes that go out in front of and above her, and they'll miss you if you're off of the ground at all.

I have little zamus experience but I second rob--rolling is the worst possible way to space in this matchup. Fair/bair approaches work well against dsmash spammerz (watch out for the fsmash though). Rob has a great sheild, airdodge, roll and recovery = a very bad matchup for olimar. go heavy on the grabbing, fsmash, and dsmash

Try to jump and throw pikmin a lot. Sometimes full jumps-falling back can work as well. Zamus has incredible range and great combos. When she's in the air, try to be on the ground. When she's on the ground try to be in the air. That's what's been helping me so far. Spotdodges work better than shielding overall in this matchup.

i got to play fadedimage at SD :D
ok soooo we played twice and i ended up winning both times. they were EXTREMELY close
i am absolutely sure this match is 55-45. the main thing is take her suit for your own. i can't stress that enough

he had trouble killing me, which is good. use purples to edge guard his recovery. it ruins them.

like i said, learn the spacing for the >b because that's their main kill move. i punished it quite often. when they try to dsmash, sh fair is amazing
