i need help with this step. Go download the HackMii installer. Copy installer.elf to the root of the SD card, and rename it to boot.elf.

The root of the SD card is just the base area of the SD card.

So if the SD card is :F\, you'd just move it to :F\ without putting it in any folders.

If you have anything saved on the SD card from the Wii, the Wii will automatically make a folder called "private" on the root of the SD to put Wii related stuff on it (like game saves). They ask you to rename the "private" folder to "privateold" so you won't interfere with the files you already have.

What it means to copy installer.elf on the root of the SD card is this:

Click on my computer.
Open the SD card by clicking on (F:/)
In that folder, paste installer.elf

im a little dumb with this so bare with me.

in the folder called privatetold put those 2 programs that i downloaded and i just type the word installer.elf in that file?

Don't touch your privateold folder at all. Once you rename it from private to privateold, you don't have to touch it again.

Now, step 2 on the page. Once you download the file there, you extract it. After it's extracted, just place it in the root of your SD card (F:/). Not in the privateold folder.

Step 3 is pretty self-explanatory.

You do Step 4 on your Wii.

ok i extracted abd6a_v200.zip on my sd card and it made another folder.

now after i download the the HackMii installer do i change the part where it says .zip to boot.elf.?

I'll try to help and be a bit specific... so... read carefully plawks.

1.a) If this is your first time hacking and you do not have a private folder, leave the SD card empty as of now.
1.b) If this is not your first time hacking and you have a folder called private, you must rename it to privateold or whatever name you want so the Wii can't do anything to it, since the Wii reads the "private" folder for gamesaves, loading, moving, and whatnot.

2) Download abd6a_v200.zip, open the .zip file, and you should find a private folder in the .zip file - private/wii/title/aktn/content.bin. Extract the private folder in the root of your SD card.

3) Download the Hack Mii Installer. In the .zip file, it contains wiiload, README-HBC.txt, README-BootMii.txt, LICENSE, CREDITS, and bootmii.elf. Since the installer.elf has already been renamed to boot.elf, place the bootmii.elf file in the root/base of your SD card.

4) You're now set. Insert your SD card in the Wii, and click the SD card icon on the main menu (4.2 version only). You should now get a pop-up saying "Load boot.dol/boot.elf" or the Wii freezing. You'll have to wait until there's a scamming error, and proceed by pressing 1 on your Wiimote.

5) For now, press Continue. Install the following: Homebrew Channel, BootMii (ISO)

6) Exit out. You're done installling the Homebrew Channel, but you're not done yet. You need Gecko 1.9.1 to load codes. Click here to download Gecko 1.9.1

* Warning * Do NOT update when you have the Homebrew Channel installed in your Wii, because it will brick your Wii, meaning your Wii will become unusable. Just go on the Channels tab on Wii Options -> Data Management -> Channels and erase it, and you can safely update your Wii. If your Wii does brick, however, you can always use BootMii to recover it. I'm not held responsible so yeah. :l

You're done! Now you just need the file patch code if you want to hack Brawl for textures, music, CSS/SSS portraits, etc. Click here how to use textures for Brawl!

Step by step:

[collapse=Click here ->]1)If you've got any folders inside in your sd, make a backup, just to be safe. Backup your "private" folder or rename to "privateold" or any other name you want. Considering you've backed up everything on your sd to your pc, the sd should be empty.

This is the root of your sd card. On the right side are the files you need.

2)Right-click on the abd6a_v200.zip and press extract files

and then select your sd

it should look like this

3)Open the hackmii_installer_v0.6.zip, and browse until you find the boot.elf

extract it to the root of your sd. It should look like this

open the "hackmii_installer_v0.6" folder and cut the boot.elf

paste it on the root of your sd. You can now delete the "hackmii_installer_v0.6" folder. If it looks like this, you're all set

4)Turn on your Wii, and then press on the sd icon on the bottom left corner

when inside the sd menu, insert your sd card.

It should either pop up Load boot.dol/elf? or freeze.

# If it pops up a dialog, then fill out the survey.

* If you encounter any problems from then on, don't try other versions (it won't help), but see the information below the survey.

# If it freezes before popping up the dialog, you could try these versions:
abd69_v200.zip
abd6b_v200.zip

Just follow the instructions you're given and you should be alright.

Just a reminder, this will only work if your Wii is 4.2[/collapse]
