watched the first match vs. dedede. use that fireball! its much better now, and don't feel as if you always need to be the one approaching.

Yea I forget about the fireball since I never used it in melee, I guess I have to find a way to incorporate that into my game. Also I guess ur right about not having to always approach, I need to be a lil more patient. Thanks for the tips. Any one else got any comments or suggestions?

The tornado is your friend when it comes to approaches, hit him with the second hit of the tornado and you got them in the air ready for some juggling with the up tilt. Now an experienced player will eventually realize that he can catch the tornado with a shield grab but they wont really do it every time. You also seem a little too hungry for the up+b...while it is cool to pull off, I wouldn't do it so often because usually when you play like a jiggs or a luigi and someone does or tries it, you try to guard yourself from that reoccurring. Its best to pull it off when you are positive of the enemies recoil, ike you had been doing in the video with DeDeDe on battlefield. As for the chain grabs...I dont really know what to say since I haven't really played a good DeDeDe...but I will look into it and post something in here about it. I think you need to spot dodge more...the best strategy for me with Luigi is stay on the enemy and give em no room to breath...constant quick attacks and the like, give him no space to throw his waddle dees. Hope what I said helps =/

Nice fights.

I definitely for one am not as impressed with Luigi's fair this time around (I loved it in Melee). It's not bad, just doesn't seem to have nearly as much smash and priority anymore.

HOWEVER, with that said, they seemed to have buffed his bair. It was always a really good move in terms of range, and very good with juggling if you can do it. This time around, it's stronger (I think, feels stronger lol). The bair gives Luigi GREAT spacing. I would avoid approaching characters like Shiek especially with anything other than the bair, since you get great spacing, and can even jump/move back a little if you miss the bair.

Spacing spacing spacing is really what's on my mind in these vids. Luigi's nair is great, lots of priority since it stays out so long, but if an enemy guards it he will always grab you. Ugh, I know I hate that lol. When you approach, if you're opponent isn't necessarily vulnerable, try to short hop, fair/dair, then double jump and try and get behind them. At that point, even if you use the nair and it's guarded, as long as you're behind them at least you can get shield grabbed. Heck, when you land behind them, drop a dsmash, tornado, or tilt!!!

Hope that helps.

Nice! I like the getting behind people idea. Because I HATE getting shield grabbed I feel its just to easy to get shieldgrabbed this time around and it annoys me lol. So thanks for the tips The Grinch.

There is a problem playing with luigi vs dedede is Lugi is easier to make the chain grab and you can see in the game guide the dedede and this can not be avoided unless you get him away and create a good strategy look at the guide the dedede perhaps throw you a little help

Sheik shouldn't be too much of a problem this time around with proper spacing and good use of aerials. Grab the edge, force sheik onto the stage, when she lands, Up B the ***** into oblivion. ROB's tough with his high priority, lasers (which have always been a pain for luigi) and his overall durability, not to mention his ability to recover really well. I don't have enough experience against ROBs to help u with that (for now) but when I can I will.

TIPS:
- Shield more.... much more.

- Make use of 2x aerials, don't fast fall single aerials..... u will get grabbed and punished.

- Jab after aerials to avoid being grabbed, and then u can do jab to smashes/tilts/jab combo/Up B.

- DI'ing up and away should avoid being chain grabbed.

- Ledge hop to aerials.

- Fireballs.... lots of those. Good for damage and spacing.

- Always wait for Dedede to land after his Up B to attack........... or if u can catch him on the way up.

Your overall defence and spacing need work. Make much more use of the Bair, good range, good strength, kill move.

Thanks knche and C3

Very good tips C3. Your right about my defense and spacing it needs much work. Watching that vid vs sheik is embarassing now...

Also I never knew jabbing after aerials would help against sheild grabbing will DEFINITELY try that now.

No problem man, always willing to help fellow luigi's. I have a bit of experience under my belt, so I like to help the up and comers. Don't be embarrsed: we're all improving, and will get better in time. Good luck to u in the future.

Jabbing after aerials to avoid being grabbed is almost impossible against even a decent player since you can be shield grabbed out of the air. I would not suggest attempting to land after a blocked aerial, just to attempt to start a combo with a jab.

I would suggest short hopping into your opponent with an aerial, then double jumping behind them. If they're still shielded, you can generally be safe to attempt another aerial since they can no longer grab you while you are behind them. The only possible punishment here is to be dsmashed, though not chars have a dsmash that hits behind them.

Double jumping behind them actually works wonders with mind games. If they attempt to roll after you land, it's fairly easy to predict it. Once you can accurately guess which way your opponent will roll, chase after him and up b, or grab/tilt/whatever to your liking =]

Cool. jumping behind them seems pretty safe and rewarding. I would like to thank everybody who helped me. I have a tournament tomorrow so wish me luck. I should do better now with the tips you all gave me though.

Jabbing after aerials is a useful thing to do and is a consistently used technique by the pros. Ka - Master himself told me about the approaches with Luigi, and it doesn't get any better than him.

Jumping behind them isn't necessairly safe, especially with luigi's floatyness. A smart player would aerial u or Up B out of shield by the time u get behind them, or they could just turn around and grab.

Was Ka-Master talking Brawl or Melee? lol, I haven't tried jabbing when landing much in Melee, so I can't vouch for that, but as I said before, I have yet to see a good player NOT grab me when I throw out an aerial and it gets blocked. I just don't see the jab come out fast enough.

If you use a nair while jumping behind them, you can GENERALLY at least trade hits if they up attack you, obviously depending on the move and the character.

Oh, can you make vids? I'd love to see your Luigi since I've been trading comments with you for a while now lol!!! And seeing that missed aerial into a jab on landing would be great...If you really CAN jab before they can grab, that'll work wonders in my games.

P.S. I hope you don't think I'm just arguing all of your points just for the sake of arguing, because I know we've been doing that the last few days. I'm simply going off of my own experiences, trials and error, etc, as I figure you are.

Thanks, much respect.
