As everyone knows, Peach ***** the Ice Climbers, and I have the pleasure of living in a state where three of the top ten players main Peach. So I need some help. Take a look at these vids of me playing my friend JV Smooth, and tell me what I need to improve upon. Also, general tips and strategies against Peach would be helpful.

Well I would say to try and grab her less often, peach's downsmash plain outranges your grab and comes out blazingly fast, it isnt really an option if she isnt lagging, if she misses a dash attack you can get a grab, or a non float canceled aerial, or any smash but a downsmash, also any b move I am pretty sure will give you some time to grab, although its unlikely she will use them in situations you can really punish, my advice is to roll unpredictably when she is dairing your shield, wait for it to end sometimes and roll as she falls to perform a smash, its a little safer, also more fsmash it outprioritizes her, you need to predict where she will be but she was very aggressive so I bet a few "random" fsmashes here and there would have really hurt her. Also bair is your friend, but just facing away from her and using wavedashing for spacing in the center of the stage you take away some of her options because it isnt safe anymore.

Dthrow dair does NOT work on peach so I would just upsmash out of throws. Good luck. Also there is some general advice in the match up thread.

Ugh, a Peach that spams FC aerials.

You know the D-smash is coming afterwards, so I suggest lightshielding more to slide away from the D-smash, then WD out of shield into jab -> grab. Or it may even be possible to just release your shield and go for a JC grab.

Use more B-airs, F-airs, Up-smashes, and regular or jumping blizzards. If you can do the Up-B out of shield desynch, I suspect it would work well here.

You can D-air chaingrab Peach if she DI's away; I'd go with it until it stops working.

it seems you like to desync (from far away) with grab; if you don't want to try all the advanced tricker ones (pivoting and whatnot), a simple spotdodge desyncs faster than grab does

and you have to intercept peach in the air; you can't sit in your shield and wait for her to come down. move around a lot and try to tap her with flying bairs

if you see her downsmashing (which is always, lol), jump up and fair, often leading to jab-grab on the untech or uairs

I'm pretty sure she'd have to miss the FC aerial for you to be able to do that, otherwise you'll get hit by the D-smash...right?

I don't know why I prefer the grab desync, I just do. I only desync for the solo blizzard, so that may be why. I've been trying to incorporate more of the ICs aerials into my game, so I'lll definitely focus on that. But I've found that light shielding tends to draw the ICs into Peach's downsmash, and separates them. I may try the rolling technique that was suggested.

fake him out, make him do a dsmash, take advantage of the lag, grab, reverse dair chain grab, kill.

most peaches will dsmash every chance they get vs ICs, not just wait for the perfect moment where they can't be punished (they can barely be punished as it is =[)

Basically. It's not gonna win every match for you, but it should destroy 80% of all peach players out there who think they're good because they found the c-stick.

your mindset in this matchup should be "avoid dsmash at all costs." it will help your game a lot just thinking that way.

if you do lengthy grab combos instead of attempting CG's you will improve.

this peach uses a lot of fc airs and knows this matchup pretty well so good luck.

try the dthrow, 2nd jab chain grab. i call it the 'peach chain grab'

your best bet is to read how your opponent DIS and chain grab accordingly. Make them Di INTO your grab.

hopefully they wont mix it up

Explain please. :p
When you dthrow with Popo, do the tap A,A combo with Nana. If the 2nd jab hits, it's an even softer knockback than the dair and harder to DI away from. Harder to escape from (but still escapable) but also harder to execute.

But it's actually not that bad on Peach because it's easy to time with her, and her floatiness makes it perfect against her.

Lightshielding doesn't exactly change Peach's approach, it just temporarily negates it. The goal is ultimately not to get caught in your shield with her floating above you. If that DOES happen, you want to be lightshielding because then you don't suffer a massive disadvantage when she lands.

MC Chris is also cool.

Something you might want to try when saving Nana is using the Nana-rocket. I just figured out that it's a great way to save her and keep yourself safe while propelling her above the level. It makes it much easier to punish the opponent if they hit her.

If anybody forgot--and I'm sure you all did, since I didn't really have any idea how to use it at the time--how to do the Nana-rocket, wavedash off the stage while holding up. Right as you slide off, hit b to Belay; Nana should go into the air, invincible, while you grab the edge.

But you're there to stop them or at least capitalize on it. Nana was dead when you were trying to save her in the first place; at least she can be used for bait one last time in the stock :)

Pookiez: Yeah, that happens sometimes. I think if you hit B kind of late, she'll just teleport off the level and fall. The technique does something similar--every single time, from what I've seen--on Yoshi's Story.
