Having ridiculous problems with WMM

So I just finished putting together a new combo video, and it's just under 8 minutes. I spend tons of time cutting clips from all my videos and arranging them in a combo video, add music the whole thing.

I get to the point where I can watch the entire thing and be completely satisfied with it, so when I go to Save Movie File, it gets to about....3 percent and then freezes up.

Is this a known bug and are there any workarounds to it? Is there a way to open WMM projects in other programs like Sony Vegas?
