What's that like?

I tried the demo for a bit and hated it. Maybe I should have played with motion controls? Can that work well on Switch's little screen? Or do I need to buy a TV just to play ARMS? Was I right to just give up on it and I should never look back?

If you don't really enjoy the gameplay the you probably shouldnt get it, it doesnt have a lot of content in it so you have to really appreciate the gameplay to like the game. Also motion controls in undocked mode is not ideal

Yeah, I've had it since launch with about 50 hours clocked in.

Party Mode can be a lot of fun in short bursts.

I play ARMS a ton.

For what it is it's surprisingly polished, the characters all have personalities, Splatoon-level lore/universe where in order to understand the worldbuilding and the lore you have to go out of your way to collect collectables, etc etc. The motion controls are optional btw, you can change your mode of play in the settings when selecting a fighter. I imagine the turnoff for most people was the price tag, if it was $40 I could see it finding a bigger audience. But who cares about price when your parents just buy the game for you? :gova:

There is potential for an Arms 2 actually. The worldbuilding and lore is there, just make a hub world ala Splatoon 2, maybe a story mode in the form of a tourney, and an online mode. Arms 1 just does not have enough content, even now, for most people to justify buying it for $60. I imagine just about anything could be an improvement over Arms 1. (I say that now but I imagine that invokes the Monkey's Paw. Good thing I'm not a Monquistian :drflip:)
