Has anyone else ever gone or been invited to be in a quincenera?

(If you're familiar with hispanic culture skip this paragraph)

For those that aren't well educated on hispanic culture, a quincenera is when a girl turns 15 her entire extended family pools in cash so they can rent a salon out and her and her "friends" do some ellaborate dance called the vals (not sure of the spelling, it's probably a derivative of "waltz").

I'm in one and it's so BORING! The people are fun but that coreographer it always like "do it again" freakin' 10 times in a row and I need to have both my earphones on because that song gets on your nerves. Plus they are like 2 hours long which mean If I slack off on homework I get punished by doing it late

The 15's this saturday and the surprise dance is this song called Lady Marmalade and it is SLUTTY, the song is even about prostitution, look it up if you don't believe me

Any of you guys gone to one of these? I want to hear your experiences

I was invited to one once, but I didn't go for some reason. Lady Marmalade's a fun song though, especially if you know what the French parts mean. I'm only familiar with the cover for Moulin Rouge, so I don't know if that stuff was in the original. Either way, fun times. As for the event itself, the dance may be boring, but it's probably pretty important to the girl whose birthday it is. Do you best to have fun! :D

Isn't this like Sweet sixteens? Only hispanic girls celebrate it at 15.
