Okay, as you guys know, Capital Community College hosted a Smash tourney last semester. It was a moderate success, and I'm hoping to take what I learned there and host something bigger and better this semester. I need your input though to help make it a success.

Name: Super Smash Schools

This is just the name, no biggie here.

Date: Friday, October 19th, 2007

I wanted a Saturday, but the school closes early on Saturdays, so Friday is the best day that will give us enough time to finish. Let me know if this date works for you or not, as I need to lock in a date for the auditorium ASAP.

Time: Registration 11:00 AM-1:00 PM; Tournament 1:00 PM-8:00 PM

Once again, let me know if this works for you, as I need this info ASAP.

Events: Singles and Crews

Singles is a no-brainer. There's been interest in holding crew battles between the various schools in CT, but I would open this up to any 4 person crew. As for teams, I don't know, that depends on the prizes, which I will discuss below.

Entry Fee: $5 or free

The $5 will be to keep the scrubs out, if we have an entry fee at all. This will be discussed in the prizes section.

Prizes

This was the major problem last semester, as a $100 gift certificate to the CCC bookstore is not a very strong motivator for attendance. However, our school has a very archaic no-gambling policy which precludes us from charging an entry fee and placing it towards a winner's pot, since cash cannot change hands at a school event. We thing we've found a work-around though. If the videogame club raises money, we can give that away as a prize in the form of a bank card. Our target goal for fundraising is $600, so the prizes would be broken down like this:

1st Place: $300
2nd Place: $200
3rd Place: $100

THIS IS ONLY A GOAL. It can be revised upwards or downwards, depending on how much we raise. It is highly doubtful that we'll be able to raise enough money for both singles and doubles, but if we do, then we'll add doubles later on. There may be a prize for crews, but we're still working on it.

Rules

MLG style, 4 stock, 8 minutes, etc. Based on the decision by SBR, I'm not sure if I'll allow wobbling or not, but probably not. Due to the no-gambling policy at CCC, there will be NO MONEY MATCHES! Crew rules will be created at a later date.
This is all in the planning phase. If you guys are interested and have comments, concerns or criticisms, please let them be known. If you think this is a waste of time, let me know and I won't bother with any of this. In any case, I need your responses quickly, because I want to finalize everything next week.

CT's worst Peach. Float Cancelling... what's that?
Sounds great, how many TVs / setups will there be?
And how was the turnout last time?
It was a decent turn out last semester. Last semester, the tourney got slowed down a bit was because they ran Madden and Live tourneys in the same location. This year, we'll just run Smash, thus freeing up more TVs so that it can run more smoothly.

BTW, love the new sig Jam.
