The Touhou series has been the most brutal in difficulty for me. Good god, dodging all those bullets...

...and it's one of the easier shmups if I've heard right.

Hardest game for me was Ocarina of Time. It took me 4 months to finish because of the Water Temple. Metal Gear Solid in my opinion is just very hard and so is FE Radiant Dawn.

That game was awesome and I actually managed to pass it. It was weird because I encountered a glitch on the second level that some how made me invincible. Of course I used that to my advantage to beat the game. I guess technically I didn't beat it. I only made it to the third level before dying with out the glitch. It's still a great game though.
